While I like the idea of it being lodged in Small Paul's body, I don't think the text really places it there.
ok, so how do you interpret 'impaled'... and the 'weight of him tore the sword from his grip'?
"Arya did not dare take a bath, even though she smelled as bad as Yoren by now, all sour and stinky. Some of the creatures living in her clothes had come all the way from Flea Bottom with her; it didn’t seem right to drown them."

He was impaled, I just wonder if the sword slipped out of Paul as his weight pried it loose from the Other's grip. It's not like sticking an axe in a log...it's like poking a bag of spaghetti, wrapped in boiled leather.

'Small Paul' is a huge man, so i imagine that as he falls backwards, the handle of the sword goes upwards; but yes it is possible that the sword slips out of Paul too; but why would it? as the body falls backwards so the sword falls with it; in any case it is detached from the WW and unless it melts, Grenn should mention something. I guess we are led to assume that the sword melted anyway.

Indeed, but I don't see it as linear as that. I envision Small Paul twisting away and the sword being flung out. They are incredibly sharp, and have an extremely low friction coefficient (in my imagination, anyway LOL). So I don't think it would take much for Small Paul's momentum, or even his collision with the ground, to sent the blade flying.
If the Other had held on to the sword for even a fraction of a second while Paul's weight ripped it free, I could see it altering the force upon the blade enough to send it free even before Paul hit the ground.
Impossible to say of course. I just envision the blades as incredibly smooth and drag free. They part chainmail like silk.

Melting seems very likely. The Other's armor melted, so it makes sense that his sword would too.
What is interesting to me is that the Other was able to be disarmed. That event is what made me connect Dawn to Night's King. Ser Puddles melted, but Night's King was never killed. Thus, his sword might still be solid. And if NK's sword is still solid, and in the Seven Kingdoms, it's Dawn.
