Yeah this is one of the things that are trippy and i'm almost buying that she's a reincarnation of Rhaegar or some genetic memory from parent to parent.
Okay, I'm liking this idea.
We've got a few ancient figures showing up--winged wolf, Sword of the Morning, Night's King. . .could the person in the red armor be another ancient figure? Or a counterfeit of one?
And as for Dany's being a reincarnation, there's that stuff about "the bones remember." Makes it sound like memory has a potentially biological element in Martinlandia.
Would fit with why Dany is conflicted--if she's half Targaryen (Rhaegar's) she's only half dragon. And half something else that might put her in conflict--with Ashara's Dayne-ness (stars). Or with the nature of another mother.
I posted this on the Ice became dawn thread, but:
She saw sunlight on the Dothraki sea, the living plain, rich with the smells of earth and death. Wind stirred the grasses, and they rippled like water. Drogo held her in strong arms, and his hand stroked her sex and opened her and woke that sweet wetness that was his alone, and the stars smiled down on them, stars in a daylight sky. "Home," she whispered as he entered her and filled her with his seed, but suddenly the stars were gone, and across the blue sky swept the great wings, and the world took flame. Game, Dany IX
Everything is good and homey and life cycle and love and sex under a sky of stars in daylight. Stars at dawn--like the Sword of the Morning seen in dawn light. Dawn and stars. . . Dayne?
But when the dragon comes, the stars are the first things gone. And it's all fire, not life.
Sounds like the quote markg171 starts this thread with: the stars with a woman's voice are asking her who she is. The stars are home and love and life. But the dragon side competes with that and drives it away.
Maybe. If Dany is a reincarnation, but with a mixed blood, that might explain conflict. Maybe.
