Maybe--but given how much work they put into making sure Jon is dressed JUST like Ned, right down to the cloak, and (as markg171 pointed out) they even had young Ned use Sean Bean's original sword in the TOJ fight--I'm thinking if they brought back that dagger, there's probably a point to it.

That dagger is for either Petyr of Cersei. It has gotten way too much screentime to not mean anything. OR maybe they are just doing throwbacks this season to throw everyone off and create unpredictability by playing chaos with these shoutouts to previous seasons.

After all: chaos IS a ladder...

Man, I underestimated D&D when they put that dagger on Aryas hip. I'm glad it's background wasn't lost and I'm excited for what may come.

The blade was Valyrian steel, spell-forged and dark as smoke. Nothing held an edge like Valyrian steel.

I've seen some spoilers on it that I'm kinda excited about--but we'll have to see what they do.
