We definitely agree regarding Sharra being a comet woman, traveling through the worlds of the Seven... and I think she is the proto-Ashara Dayne. Ashara's very sigil is a star with a tail.

Thus I find it very interesting that Sharra had sex with the melancholy proto-Rhaegar character. 

If only we could resolve the sea-star and sea-dragon connection a bit more neatly...

...interesting that Dany's ascent should be heralded by such a star. One begins to wonder if her mother lept from a bed of blood to fall into the sea. Stormborn, as it were. 

It's a really good one. While short, the characters are much deeper than some of his other works. I felt emotionally vested in each of them. 



Comet lady all the way. And I can see her as a wanderer amid the 7. I have a harder time seeing her as a wanderer amid 8.

And I wasn't talking about R+L=/=J... only bringing up the possibility that Rhaegar "had a man ever been so beautiful" Targaryen and the hauntingly beautiful Ashara Dayne may have hooked up to create Dany ... aka "the most beautiful woman in the world." ... The same girl who sees herself as the last dragon, when Rhaegar was the last dragon, sees herself wearing Rhaegar's armor, and who happens to look like Ashara Dayne. GRRM pointed out that the lack of lemon trees in Braavos is an astute observation, and added to the fact that Dany speaks High Valyrian and Viserys does not, there may be more to Dany than the seeming. The tale of the Sealord's Cat is never far from my mind.  

While we know little about Ashara, what we do know of her reminds me of this woman, Sharra.

Say them out loud, "Sharra," "Ashara." It's a minimal pair (they differ by only a single sound: /ə/). Their names are more alike than Lya and Lyanna (two sounds: /n/ and /ə/).

But few will be interested in such phonology. Let us instead speak of semantics Ashara is a woman of Starfall, rumored to have leapt from the Palestone tower after her heart was broken by her lover (and Brother Dareon's song fits few women in our story). Sharra is a heartbroken woman quite literally following her lost lover between worlds. 


In my opinion, the nature of each woman as a Sad Star that moves between worlds cannot be doubted.


So R+L=J remains on the table, but I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss his best friend's sister who served his wife at court, before being dismissed. We have no reason to believe Rhaegar kept to one bed, right? 

A starry woman, fleeing the world after her doomed affair with a musician. There are many ways the chips may fall, but Laren Dorr+Sharra being the rough draft of Rhaegar+Ashara is an intriguing possibility, and one that might help explain Dareon's lonely song.

I was very happy to see you vote and comment in the "...for a single yesterday" thread. 

I'd like to draw your attention to this story as well. Its main character is a lot like the musician from "single yesterday," and it REALLY belongs in your 1000 Worlds series, as it basically proves your theory that ASOIAF takes place in the Thousand Worlds' universe. I was quite skeptical of your theory until I read this story. 

Laren Dorr mentions a character, "the pale child Bakkalon." As you know, the Pale Child is also mentioned in Bitterblooms, as well as Arya III AFFC:


But as indicative as that is, that's not the reason I changed my mind about your theory. "The Seven" are also featured very prominently, and they are gods that travel the heavens. It is a heavy handed version of deus ex machina that is very uncharateristic for GRRM, as the Seven themselves directly interfere in the lives of people. 

If analogous to ASOIAF, then Mel's actions at dragonstone could have some profond consequences. 

Anyway, I think this story, The Lonely Songs of Laren Dorr, is the missing link between ASOIAF and the Thousand Worlds. I'll post this last thought on youtube as well, with a link to this thread.

Nice. This is good stuff in here. There is more to add regarding hearts, blood, and horses, just know this, if horses are synonymous with trees for the skinchanging/old godsy talents, then we repeatedly witness fire people/etc consuming horses (and trees as they symbolize each other as vessels for souls, etc).

Also, the Steel Angels are basically the exact prototype for the Andal/Faith of Seven + Targ intermixing (fiery stars faith) and both will worship she of many, many titles- Bakkalon the Pale Daenerys. But this will not bode well in the end...

ETA: the Steel Angels, militant religious, fly through the worlds spreading their faith all while destroying the indigenous. There are a few stories have the POV confuse a spaceship for a star. Not a huge stretch to make that connection.

Very nice catch! Care to expand on your thoughts regarding the Andal/Faithful (as in Faith of the Seven) Houses in ASOIAF being associated with Death?

Ser Damon Morrigen, called Damon the Devout, was a pious knight from House Morrigen who was a devout member of the Warrior's Sons. He became Grand Captain of the Warrior's Sons, and led the chapter in King's Landing based at the Sept of Remembrance early in the Faith Militant uprising.

House Morrigen is an obvious reference to the Irish/Celtic goddess (sometimes split into a trifecta): The Morrigan who was a goddess of Death, surrounded by crow imagery.
