Hello,
I'm a new member on this site as I feel that anyone who doesn't conform to RLJ theory on W forums is being ignored.
I don't know if I should post it in this thread or start a new thread, but since this thread is about AD + L = J theory, I decided to post it here.
I believe that Arthur Dayne is Jon's father. My belief is based on the following clues and hints:
1. The dream about the tower of joy:
I do not adhere to the belief that Lyanna was in the tower. I believe the dream is meant to hint us that there is a connection between Arthur Dayne and Lyanna.
Furthermore, the following passage links together Arthur Dayne, Lyanna & the Promise (related to Jon Snow's birth), which strengthen my belief about that connection.
2. Arthur Dayne's appearance:
In the aforementioned dream we this description of Arthur Dayne:
We also have this passage:
So Ned basically looked death in the eye, meaning that Arthur = Death.
This gives us another clue when we re-read the following passage:
I believe this means that Arthur Dayne's eye color is blue.
Lastly, Arthur Dayne is believed to be dead:
So to summarize, Arthur Dayne had a sad smile, blue eyes and is considered dead.
3. Daenerys' HOTU vision:
I believe that the first trio of visions is the first fire, fire for life = the birth of Daenerys' dragons.
The second trio is the second mount, mount to dread = Daenerys arriving to Meereen as a false savior (Stannis = false azor ahai), trying to fit in (A cloth dragon = Daenerys in a tokar), only to leave as a conqueror atop a dragon (a stone beast = Drogon, a dragon wakened out of stone).
The third trio is the third treason, treason for love = someone will betray Daenerys for their love for Jon Snow's mother (Lyanna).
Interestingly enough, that person's description is very similar to that of Arthur Dayne.
A corpse standing – someone dead who isn't dead = believed to be dead.
Eyes bright – might be blue eyes.
Smiling sadly – a sad smile.
4. Arthur Dayne's whereabouts:
If we continue on this breadcrumb trail, it points us across the sea, as this person is at a prow of a ship. Essos is across the sea from Westeros, so I believe Arthur Dayne went into hiding in Essos.
We are told that Arthur Dayne, who was a kingsguard, was also a friend of prince Rhaegar:
We were told about a kingsguard (Barristan) who went into hiding in Essos under a false name and a grown beard:
We were also told about a friend of Rhaegar that was hiding in Essos, and that in his case he shaved is beard but dyed his hair blue:
So, if Arthur Dayne was a kingsguard and a friend of Rhaegar, we should look for someone with a beard and a hair dyed blue. And if he crossed the sea from Dorne to Essos, he should have reached Tyrosh, which is right across Dorne:

5. Arthur Dayne's false identity:
Continuing on the breadcrumb trail, we need to look for a character which is close to Daenerys, has blue/bright eyes, a beard and a dyed blue hair and had been in Tyrosh:
I believe this means that Arthur Dayne = Daario Naharis.
6. Hints of affection
As I stated above, there are passages which links Lyanna, Arthur and the Promise (related to Jon's birth), hereinafter are two more that make this link through the mention of rose petals:
So, we have a flower (rose petals) that links Lyanna and Arthur.
Also, we are told that Daario (Arthur) has brought Daenerys flowers every day and it seems it was one of the causes for Daenerys infatuation with him:
Based on these two points and the assumption that Daario = Arthur, we can further assume that he also brought Lyanna flowers. The following passages seem to strengthen this notion.
As a contrast to that, the crown of winter roses, given to Lyanna by Rhaegar, is associated with negative emotions:
I believe these passages are hints for the reader, hinting that there wasn't any romantic connection between Lyanna and Rhaegar.
Long story short, I believe Arthur Dayne is alive, masquerading as Daario Naharis, and that he is Jon Snow's Father.

I believe that Arthur Dayne is Jon's father. My belief is based on the following clues and hints:
1. The dream about the tower of joy:
"He dreamt an old dream, of three knights in white cloaks, and a tower long fallen, and Lyanna in her bed of blood." Eddard, A Game of Thrones
"And now it begins,” said Ser Arthur Dayne, the Sword of the Morning. He unsheathed Dawn and held it with both hands. The blade was pale as milkglass, alive with light. “No,” Ned said with sadness in his voice. “Now it ends.” As they came together in a rush of steel and shadow, he could hear Lyanna screaming. “Eddard!” she called. A storm of rose petals blew across a blood-streaked sky, as blue as the eyes of death. “Lord Eddard,” Lyanna called again. “I promise,” he whispered. “Lya, I promise …”" Eddard, A Game of Thrones
2. Arthur Dayne's appearance:
In the aforementioned dream we this description of Arthur Dayne:
"Ser Arthur Dayne, the Sword of the Morning, had a sad smile on his lips" Eddard, A Game of Thrones
We also have this passage:
"The finest knight I ever saw was Ser Arthur Dayne, who fought with a blade called Dawn, forged from the heart of a fallen star. They called him the Sword of the Morning, and he would have killed me but for Howland Reed.” Father had gotten sad then, and he would say no more. Bran wished he had asked him what he meant." Bran, A Clash of Kings
So Ned basically looked death in the eye, meaning that Arthur = Death.
This gives us another clue when we re-read the following passage:
"A storm of rose petals blew across a blood-streaked sky, as blue as the eyes of death." Eddard, A Game of Thrones
I believe this means that Arthur Dayne's eye color is blue.
Lastly, Arthur Dayne is believed to be dead:
"They whispered of Ser Arthur Dayne, the Sword of the Morning, deadliest of the seven knights of Aerys’s Kingsguard, and of how their young lord had slain him in single combat." Catelyn, A Game of Thrones
"Her silver was trotting through the grass, to a darkling stream beneath a sea of stars. A corpse stood at the prow of a ship, eyes bright in his dead face, grey lips smiling sadly. A blue flower grew from a chink in a wall of ice, and filled the air with sweetness." Daenerys, A Clash of Kings
"Young Lord Connington was dear to the prince as well, but his oldest friend was Arthur Dayne." Daenerys, A Storm of Swords
We were told about a kingsguard (Barristan) who went into hiding in Essos under a false name and a grown beard:
"He bowed his head. “At Qarth, when you asked my name, I said I was called Arstan. That much was true. Many men had called me by that name while Belwas and I were making our way east to find you. But it is not my true name.” She was more confused than angry. He has played me false, just as Jorah warned me, yet he saved my life just now. Ser Jorah flushed red. “Mero shaved his beard, but you grew one, didn’t you? No wonder you looked so bloody familiar …” “You know him?” Dany asked the exile knight, lost. “I saw him perhaps a dozen times … from afar most often, standing with his brothers or riding in some tourney. But every man in the Seven Kingdoms knew Barristan the Bold." Daenerys, A Storm of Swords
We were also told about a friend of Rhaegar that was hiding in Essos, and that in his case he shaved is beard but dyed his hair blue:
"Griff wondered how many of them knew who he was. Few enough. Twelve years is a long time. Even the men who’d ridden with him might not recognize the exile lord Jon Connington of the fiery red beard in the lined, clean-shaved face and dyed blue hair of the sellsword" The Lost Lord, A Dance with Dragons
So, if Arthur Dayne was a kingsguard and a friend of Rhaegar, we should look for someone with a beard and a hair dyed blue. And if he crossed the sea from Dorne to Essos, he should have reached Tyrosh, which is right across Dorne:
(Map – A Dance of Dragons)
5. Arthur Dayne's false identity:
Continuing on the breadcrumb trail, we need to look for a character which is close to Daenerys, has blue/bright eyes, a beard and a dyed blue hair and had been in Tyrosh:
"…and Daario Naharis was flamboyant even for a Tyroshi. His beard was cut into three prongs and dyed blue, the same color as his eyes and the curly hair that fell to his collar." Daenerys, A Storm of Swords
"That, and his eyes. His bright blue eyes. On the road from Yunkai, Daario had brought her a flower or a sprig of some plant every evening when he made his report" Daenerys, A Storm of Swords
I believe this means that Arthur Dayne = Daario Naharis.
6. Hints of affection
As I stated above, there are passages which links Lyanna, Arthur and the Promise (related to Jon's birth), hereinafter are two more that make this link through the mention of rose petals:
"Promise me, Ned. The fever had taken her strength and her voice had been faint as a whisper, but when he gave her his word, the fear had gone out of his sister’s eyes. Ned remembered the way she had smiled then, how tightly her fingers had clutched his as she gave up her hold on life, the rose petals spilling from her palm, dead and black." Eddard, A Game of Thrones
"A storm of rose petals blew across a blood-streaked sky, as blue as the eyes of death." Eddard, A Game of Thrones
So, we have a flower (rose petals) that links Lyanna and Arthur.
Also, we are told that Daario (Arthur) has brought Daenerys flowers every day and it seems it was one of the causes for Daenerys infatuation with him:
"That, and his eyes. His bright blue eyes. On the road from Yunkai, Daario had brought her a flower or a sprig of some plant every evening when he made his report." Daenerys, A Storm of Swords
"She said as much to her handmaids when they came. “What does Your Grace wish to wear?” asked Missandei. Starlight and seafoam, Dany thought, a wisp of silk that leaves my left breast bare for Daario’s delight. Oh, and flowers for my hair. When first they met, the captain brought her flowers every day, all the way from Yunkai to Meereen." Daenerys, A Dance with Dragons
Based on these two points and the assumption that Daario = Arthur, we can further assume that he also brought Lyanna flowers. The following passages seem to strengthen this notion.
“I bring her flowers when I can,” he said. “Lyanna was … fond of flowers.” Eddard, A Game of Thrones
"Promise me, Ned, his sister had whispered from her bed of blood. She had loved the scent of winter roses." Eddard, A Game of Thrones
"Promise me, she had cried, in a room that smelled of blood and roses." Eddard, A Game of Thrones
"A blue flower grew from a chink in a wall of ice, and filled the air with sweetness" Daenerys, A Clash of Kings
As a contrast to that, the crown of winter roses, given to Lyanna by Rhaegar, is associated with negative emotions:
"Ned Stark thought of pale blue roses, and for a moment he wanted to weep." Eddard, A Game of Thrones
"Ned Stark reached out his hand to grasp the flowery crown, but beneath the pale blue petals the thorns lay hidden. He felt them clawing at his skin, sharp and cruel, saw the slow trickle of blood run down his fingers, and woke, trembling, in the dark." Eddard, A Game of Thrones
"“Promise me, Ned,” Lyanna’s statue whispered. She wore a garland of pale blue roses, and her eyes wept blood." Eddard, A Game of Thrones
"The slim, sad girl who wore a crown of pale blue roses and a white gown spattered with gore could only be Lyanna." Theon, A Clash of Kings
I believe these passages are hints for the reader, hinting that there wasn't any romantic connection between Lyanna and Rhaegar.
Long story short, I believe Arthur Dayne is alive, masquerading as Daario Naharis, and that he is Jon Snow's Father.
