Some folks will be very happy with this episode. I thought it was one of the worst I've seen. Implausible interactions and reactions from start to finish, blatant fan service, and either they are using fan theories to fill the script or they are hardcore trolling them. I don't think these guys are smart enough for the latter, but I hope they prove me wrong.
I give it a very low 2. Only reason it doesn't get a 1 is because there were, thankfully, no hissing Sandsnakes exterminating any Dornish houses.
"I can see it. You have more of the north in you than your brothers."
it was a letdown from the last episode, but just as entertaining as the first 3 episodes. i liked the Jon Drogon interaction, although i liked the leaked script where Rhaegal and Viserion were checking him out before Drogon lands better. Thought Bronn was hilarious at the start, loved Gendry and Davos throughout, and thought the overall winterfell stuff was pretty much OK. they're trying to set up some tension before knocking LF off finally, so i get that. liked how Gilly pronounced Rhaegar 'Raggare', and i liked Mormont's scenes.
liked the Eastwatch stuff, and i really liked that castle, not at all how i'd pictured it honestly. gave it an 8.

Guys, I hate to say it, but... This show is straight up bad now. Going on 3 years of being disappointed almost every week.
There are still some outstanding individual scenes and performances, but it doesn't feel anything like the written story or world I love.
"No true knight would condone such wanton butchery." "True knights see worse every time they ride to war, wench," said Jaime. "And do worse, yes." Brienne turned the rudder toward the shore. "I'll leave no innocents to be food for crows." "A heartless wench. Crows need to eat as well. Stay to the river and leave the dead alone, woman."

I gave it a four because while they "know what they're doing", they clearly don't care anymore. It just wasn't so bad as Stabby McStab Doran that we saw last season. Only the Winterfell scenes do anything for me on the show anymore. Can we just drop the rest of the plots and focus on the Stark children in Winterfell dealing with the problems of Jon not being home and prepping for Winter? Well I did like the Varys scene too, but they give Varys so little to do anymore...
D&D have forgotten how to do foreplay with their audience, and they just come all over themselves now without being considerate at all for the rest of us...
I gave it a "7" and that was mostly about scenery and maybe one interaction.
What I liked..
1.It looked. There were some shots that were really emotive.Tyrion walking through the charred field looking at the burnt bodies and food was a great choice.
2.The Bronn and Jamie scene at the water's edge very good.Mainly because of Bronn's honest and practical humor.
3.Dragon CGI towering over a broken army was a nice way to show that in Westeros Dany has brought fear and anyone who knows will be because of fear. She not enslaving people but she will kill you. That ain't a choice hun. That is a rock and a hard place.
4.I like that Little finger is showing a glimmer of his scheming sense. We will see some sister sister action.
5.Liked that Arya called Sansa on her liking of pretty things.
6.Bran scene was scenic and informative.I liked that scene a lot.
What I hate.
1.Contrived characters and plots.Jon has Beric to bring him back when he dies again and Gendry to forge Lightbringer.D&D, really? Really?
This was a 10 on the BS scale
2.Hated that entire Jon Dragon scene because they have substituted Direwolf for Dragon. Its like Ghost had and has no point to Jon's story.10 on the BS scale.
3.This show is pretty much all about Jon the lost Targ heir,TPTWP,KITN,twice resurrected man.And his crazy going to be loved Aunt.10 on the BS scale.
4.Cersie is preggers...Really?? What is the point? Ohhh to make it even more a moment when Jamie kills her and his unborn child.
" I rather kill my unborn child than leave it to a much more horrendous fate with you Cersie." Oy vey!
5.Tarly and Dickon's death was pointless.Well I guess it was to foster distrust in Danny's sanity.
2 on the BS scale.
6.Cersie now being a player with a streak of madness.
7.Dany's bend a knee or die rhetoric.Heifer you ain't Stannis so chill.
8.The Speedy Gonzalez traveling is giving me motion sickness.8 on BS scale.
9.The icing on the cake.Moldy parchment.Everything was wrong with that entire scene.Everything was wrong with Sam's entire trip to the Citadel.
10+ on the BS scale.
D&D you all really don't give a shizer now.
"The world is full of obvious things which nobody by any chance ever observes"--Sherlock Holmes"
I give the show a lot of leeway for its writing, but nearly every single scene was either contrived ("won't it be great if these characters meet!"), or baffling. In sheer laziness, the writing was worse than anything in Season 5, which was already a pretty low bar.
The only thing that really worked for me on the writing front is the field of ash/execution of the Tarlys--IMO, all of this is an extension of what has been foreshadowed in Dany's final ADWD chapter: 'Dragons plant no trees. Remember that. Remember who you are, what you were made to be. Remember your words. "Fire and Blood," Daenerys told the swaying grass.'
More troubling still, I don't believe for a second that all of the stuff we're seeing - at least in terms of pure abstract plot points - is 100% invented by D&D...of course, maybe that's just me, as I don't consider GRRM to be the subversive genius that some readers seem to characterize him as, and I think the suggestion that D&D are using their $100-million-a-season show to troll a very small minority of their total viewership (eg, the people that have gone too far down the Fan Theory rabbit hole) is extremely silly.

I honestly think this is the worst episode out of any season of the show. They cut the number of episodes in the season to wind the story down and make them a bit longer to get everything in, but either no one fucking does anything or they travel across a continent at light speed. The best episode (top 3 all time IMO) is the shortest one of the season.
The dialogue, the plotlines that make absolutely NO sense (capture a fucking wight out of an entire army with 7 people???), characters' storylines stalling because they have nothing to do while others advance way too quickly, it's just gotten dumb. The only saving grace at this point are the dragon scenes for me, and not the ones with Jon petting it like a fucking horse or a camel or something.
And the worst part of all is I don't think we're going to get another book in the series.

Hmmm what's true in the abstract that seem to coincide with the subtly of the books.
1.Bran"not being Bran anymore." I think that might turn out to be the case. It's subtly hinted at in the books.
2.Sam finding out about the Others at the Citadel. The purpose of his trip. He'll probably unearth some shady crap about the Maesters
3.Dany teetering on doing some crazy shizer.Ohhh yes.

This. Exactly this.
The wight-capturing adventure is even dumber than Sansa agreeing to marry Ramsay Bolton. It's an OBVIOUSLY terrible idea and no sane person would do such a thing. D&D clearly just needed a pretext to get a bunch of main characters North of the Wall because they wanted a snow battle. UGH.
Then there is Jaime, the commander of the enemy host who attempted to kill Dany, who apparently everyone forgot about the second he went under water. WTF??? Never mind the floating armor; how could he and Bronn possibly get away unseen? It makes NO sense. Ridiculous.
And don't get me started on Winterfell. I loved it last week, but this week it was lame. The Game of Thrones needs to be coming to an end, not shifting battlegrounds to another castle. The Northern lords are idiots if they don't understand why Jon had to go, and Sansa is a traitor for not explaining it to them, again, but rather letting them stew in their frustration. He is bringing back the ONLY weapon against the Others (or is he? Did he end up mining it? I sure hope so).... LF is irrelevant, and has almost no chance of finishing the season. The Stark girls, on the other hand, are wrapped in the same plot armor as all the other main characters (except for the "extras" they'll be eliminating north of the Wall next episode). Sigh. I give up. If it stays this bad, I may skip the next season entirely so as not to experience potential spoilers buried in all the bullshit.
I gave it a 2, and that's being generous.
“In Qohor he is the Black Goat, in Yi Ti the Lion of Night, in Westeros the Stranger. All men must bow to him in the end, no matter if they worship the Seven or the Lord of Light, the Moon Mother or the Drowned God or the Great Shepherd. All mankind belongs to him... else somewhere in the world would be a folk who lived forever. Do you know of any folk who live forever?”

I gave it a 7. It was a good episode. I just quit worrying about how everyone is traveling around so quickly. I think the biggest issue is that this could have easily have been a 10 episode season, and I think they probably crammed too much into it. It was still entertaining, and am really looking forward to the last two episodes of the season.
I liked the bond that Gendry and Jon seem to have. Yeah, it seemed to be rushed a little, but I see them being good friends more than I can see Jon and Dany shacking up.
