But I am right now stuck in Dunk&Egg, can't go past Baelor death...
Ah, I know!!! I heard the audio-books a few days before I bought the hardback, and I really struggled to actually read it. Put it aside for a few days before I was able to get through it. It still hurts like hell!
RIP Baelor "Breakspear" Targaryen, the greatest king that never was!
You're welcome to join whenever it suits you, LadyDarry! As you probably have seen, the pace is rather a sedate one. So no rush!
It is.
I thought one or two chapters per week would be too slow at first, but now it feels too quick! Tons of great discussion coming from the first few chapters already.
I would love to be part of the reread as well. But I would love to know how to, will we all read a certain chapter and try to find clues about the parentage clues we believe in?

All 5 novels, Will's Prologue to Kevan's Epilogue, looking for the parents of Jon Snow.
I was thinking of taking it nice and slow, crawling over every detail as a group. A chapter or two per week.
We look for clues in every single chapter and discuss what we find. So far we've only got to Eddard I, so it's not much to catch up on. You can look for all possibilities, or you can focus on NAJ if you want to. It is easier to see the clues to your favorite theory of course! Personaly I want to keep an open mind that my favorite could be wrong and make a better judgement as we finish. The thread said to look for Jon's parents, but as you'll see in Dany I we also get into her parentage. So we'll probably discuss all our mystery babies and try to find the answer as we go along. (In my mind this morphed into taking on all parentage questions, but then I'm impatient and want to solve every mystery at the same time...) Also we try to keep it to the chapters that we are reading, but we don't pretend that we don't know what comes later. So sometimes we do get off point and discuss other mysteries... Quoting later parts in making mental links is of course ok! All in all, it's not many rules other than basing any speculations on actual quotes from the text.

I thought that I will be able to just go through it, but putting the whole thing aside was the only possible way for me to do it... The same thing with Ned after his death. I am taking these books too personally But I am now at Sworn Sword, so I am finally moving towards those AGOT chapters
shymaid thank you. I believe Daenerys is really Aerys' and Rhaella's daughter so I would love to focus on NAJ and RLA
Good to see you join in! It is easier to have one focus (at a time), I find my thoughts getting tied into knots while looking for all possibilities... Starting to get the hang of it now, thank the gods!

While reading the Sworn Sword, I went back to the first story and came across that part again. I almost cried. Again I have trouble reading of Lady's death, and Ned's. Oberyn's I've only read and watched once, never again! But that is mostly due to the brutality of it described with so much detail, the sadness ends up as more secondary. And I have to admit, every time I read of RR I hope this time Rhaegar wins...

Haha, one part of me gets a bit impatient, but the other is glad as I get so much more time for my Feasting with Dragons!
shymaid I love your user name and "Davos Seaworth" his chapters in ADWD about Ned's stay in Sisterton, Fisherman's daughter, Merry Midwife (?) and Wolf's Den is like N+A=J heaven in my eyes. Plus Stannis asking if Jon's mother was a fishwife lmao love my Mannis.
elifsu , thank you! Kinda ironic you came here while I'm at the Davos-stage when thinking about it! Enjoy it for the next 15 or so posts I have left before I must leave sweet Davos behind. He is one of my favorites! I'd heard of the rumors, Wolf's Den etc before I read the books (yes, I was a soiled reader) and still it seems like coming out of the blue. Pun not intended. And the Stannis quote I didn't pick up until a few days ago when I reread that chapter in my dragonfeast. He's a crafty and tricksy bird, that Martin!
