i mean, they didn't really fulfill the Tits aspect, but oh were there dragons (and even a Ghost sighting, and i'm pretty sure he was the first shadow to run back into safety after ripping apart some of the undead). it was thoroughly enjoyable, however much credulity was strained, and i bet the writers think they are oh so clever.
(next week is going to be funny cause they're showing unsullied running around in formation. like there could be more than Grey Worm left. i'll be rolling on the floor when they show some dothraki...)
tzalaran cool, Ghost is "safe". And where's Bronn? Must say the actor for Grey Worm is excellent. Such emotion with just his eyes. Fearless. Glad the rumors were false and he's alive. Same with Pod...

Solidly disappointed that the Starks just popped up like any other zombies. When they didn't have the blue eyes, I was sure they were waking themselves up to give the Night King a stern talking to. Am disappoint! There must always be a Stark in Winterfell! Or not. Who cares. The North remembers.
Also Ghost just wandering off with Mormont. What? And I... I guess he lived?
I suppose we can safely assume that Jamie, Tormund, The Big Woman, and everyone else in the courtyard is still living? Even Grey Worm lived! Did Gilly live? No one with any plot relevance died. Just the lovable sidekicks. (Not to disrespect Edd, who is great. But he has no
Bottom line: I don't care about this show. The Night King isn't compelling because he's an action hero; he's compelling because he's some kind of magical demon thing whipped up by man's own hubris or whatever bullshit. But none of that makes it to the screen; on TV he's just a contagious zombie. We know literally nothing about him, he's utterly uncompelling. "Uh, I guess he wants it to be night forever? He's tried this with many other 3-eyed Ravens, which by the way yes we are just dropping that now." I guess based on one episode our lore here is that the Long Night is an eternally-recurring chess match between the Raven and the NK? Apparently he and Bran have thousands of years of history, the sort of thing that would give this conflict some real juice, but... nah. World War Z it is!
Also, if you watched the behind the scenes thing after, they more or less confirmed that Arya will kill NK. One of the Davids said something about "we've known for 3 years now that it had to be Arya with Valyrian steel." (paraphrase).
Anyway, Winterfell is wrecked, tons of people are dead dead dead, and... we won? Literally just a horror movie. The undead don't have motivation and neither do our villains. They killed the head vampire and all the vampires died. The end. Tits and dragons and zombie vampires.
Now the last 3 episodes will be all the storylines I don't even care about in the book. Politics! Sexual intrigue! Dany's tortured emotions! Thank goodness we resolved the literal apocalypse and now we can get to the real meat of it. Someone please wheel the omniscient cripple back into the closet, he's frankly creepy and we've got incesting to do. Thanks!

Yes--the survivor list could be interesting.
The "oh so clever"--I really think they boxed themselves in with the living Night King. Barely got themselves out via Wolverine.
Just. . . no.
And Mel just got to give up and die????? Not at all sure how I feel about that.

Just thought of something. I will consider the show entirely redeemed if, in order to crush Cersei, Bran creates another Night King, and the episode series ends with him looking at the camera with a comically-exaggerated shrug.

Right! I did love that Davos was hell bent on killing her, armies of the damned be, uh, damned.
But there you are! Last shot of the episode. Sorceress lady confirms that she's really an old crone, wanders out in the snow, and dies. WHY. WHY LADY. Just suicidal? Secretly in love with NK, doesn't want to live without him, Romeo and Juliet style? She had foreknowledge of her death, or so it seemed. Lady, it's not magical foresight when you simply PLAN YOUR OWN SUICIDE.
No fucking sense. I bet it happens in the book and is explained in the book (lol book right), but on screen it will never be addressed. No time!

AMEN!!!! The crypts meant nothing. Nothing. Nothing.
I'm guessing they wanted to up the horror factor or something.
And I can't get over the non-silent dead. Half the horror of the walking dead is the silence. The squeaky, groany noises. Oy.

Amen and hallelujah!
I'll say it before and I'll say it again: as soon as they made him into a person, they boxed themselves into stupid.
Also, if you watched the behind the scenes thing after, they more or less confirmed that Arya will kill NK. One of the Davids said something about "we've known for 3 years now that it had to be Arya with Valyrian steel." (paraphrase).
Maybe--but they also said they'd known for years they were going to have Sansa take Jeyne Poole's place. So. . . just cause they've "known it for years" isn't yet good enough for me that it will happen in the books.
That said--I am glad Arya's fearlessness took out the NK's fearlessness. And they gave some reason to her becoming Wolverine. But will it happen that way in the books? Only if GRRM makes the mistake D&D make and makes the Night King a walking around creature.

HA! they've already set up for Sansa and Dany to keep catfighting. So, here we go!!!
And since they spent that bloody much on the dragons, they'd better give us Nymeria and her wolfpack!!!!

HA!!!! When the Night King fell, I actually had a sick feeling Bran's eyes were about to turn blue as he became the next Night King.
The above could be funnier, though.
All that said, never even came close to explaining how the first Long Night ended.
I want to believe we will get that explained.
But I think it will be dropped off a narrative cliff so Sansa and Dany can bitch-slap each other.
All that said: Lyanna Mormont got me. Big time. Gonna miss that little kid.
And Theon. Alfie's one of the best actors on the show. By a lot.
I'll miss him whenever they give Jon a speech. Oy.

My very first thought after that flaming horse charge was "well, I guess we don't have to worry about feeding the Dothraki anymore!".
Honestly, I had a hard time getting engaged in this episode. Perhaps because it was shot so dark, as well as all the quick cutaways made it difficult to see. It was probably only with about 20 minutes left that I felt like I was truly engaged in the episode, and that was when all seemed lost. Perhaps it was the piano music that finally caught me and my attention.
And the concept of turning the undead into methed up zombies that sound like beetles chirping has always been difficult for me, but this episode seemed worse.
If they name a Queen in the North after this, it better fooking be Arya, and not "Hi, I'm Sansa and I like to hide behind the dead of my family".
RIP House Mormont, but I felt like that was foreshadowed last week. RIP a lot of peeps, but not as many as I expected. Davos is still sailing in smooth water...
Why can't Dany just die already???
Was Rhaegal the only surviving dragon? Did Ghost survive that insane charge at the beginning of the episode?
If Grey Worm managed to survive, does that mean that Missandei died in the crypts?
Loved that the Hound had Arya's back... again! I am a sucker for Arya and the Hound!!!
Over all, the ending and the up-swing of Arya being a badass made up for the majority of the hard to watch episode, but I am curious how they will spin this next week for Dany. It was Arya who saved them all, not Dany. I was excited for this one, and felt a little let down, until the last 5 minutes or so. I enjoyed the Night's King and his blue eyed brothers marching into the godswood, and almost wanted Cersei to have to face that shit storm next week!
Remember when Maester Luwin asked Theon, "oh, is there going to be a battle in the godswood" way back in season 1? I think we just got a call back!
Oh, pretty happy the heart tree survived!!!
Their father understood as well. "You want no pup for yourself, Jon?" he asked softly.
