Hello everyone this is an attempted thread about Gemstone Emperors, LoN, MMoL and GoD - there isn't a fixed theory here but it is possible connections to these mythical figures - would love to hear your ideas about them!
Lion of Night
· Obsidian Emperor
Lion of Night and his demons are connected to the Long Night, and Obsidians are needed to fight the Others, since Gemstone Emperors all have gem names I think LoN could be associated with Obsidians.
· House Casterly
LoN is connected to wealth, and what's wealth if it is not gold mines of the Rock. Jaime's dream of "Lannister Kings" calling him to his room under the Rock is significant because it is tied to Daenerys' dreams of Gemstone Emperors and Jon's dreams of the Winterfell crypts. Plus Corlos slaying a lion is suspicious too, but we never learn what happened to House Casterly after Lann the Clever.
· Shadowcat
I don't know how significant constellations are in asoiaf but Shadowcat could be connected to LoN because lion mythologies include Pards, Manticores, Sphinxes and Griffins, and a Leopard could always be a Shadowcat. There is also a Lyseni cat goddess Pandera - is she tiger wife of Bloodstone Emperor? (I am rambling)
· From North to South and to North Again
I always found it interesting how the Fist and Hardhome are so disconnected from First Men history and how CotF tried to break Westeros in two like Arm of the Dorne but we were told men living in fertile lands like the Reach. What if First Men actually came from the Land of Always Winter? And Garth Greenhand wasn't the first man to arrive? Could House Casterly be one of the First to establish his rule in South? And did they ascend to North again after Lann's arrival? After reading a brilliant theory about Craster being Casterly I am not opposed to the possibility of it.
· Father and Stranger
I think the Andals with their Hyrkoon figure is one of the groups that has knowledge about the Long Night and their Faith is directly connected to it in a weird way. Lion of Night fills the role of Father and Stranger, Father because of he has a son, and Stranger because he was the first one to start the Long Night. The Stranger is never hidden like they say, he is only wearing his fatherly mask.
Maiden Made of Light
· Amber Empress
The reason I associated Amber with MMoL is due to the fact I found her to be a mix of Greek Elecrtoyne and Turkic Akana (weird) as Akana is a Goddess made of light and has antlers, she is the inspiration of Creator God to create world and humans - Elecrtoyne is a Goddess of Dawn, daughter of Helios and is connected to Rhodes famous for the Colossal. Since Essosi myths state Long Night started when she turned her back to planetos it is logical for Last Hero to seek her, in Braavos?, where her priests the Moonsingers help the Hero defeat the enemy. I believe Titan of Braavos is the Last Hero, with his green clothes, and green skin, and green hair - he could always have antlers too.
· Lady of the Spears
Lady of the Spears is worshipped by Unsullied and man burn their manhood at her altar. She is connected to blue flames and I think Varys' story of castration and voice of the flames indicates this Goddess speaks to her followers. Is it possible Varys was a failed attempt of Unsullied where the brainwashed youth decided to not to kill a baby or a puppy and ran away?
· Weeping Lady of Lys
In HoBaW Arya doesn't encounter statue of MMoL but we learn there is a statue of Weeping Lady of Lys. Is it possible she is the mother goddess of our pantheon? Is she weeping because of betrayal? For her child?
· Weeping Lady of Arryn
Alyssa Arryn was said to lose her entire family but never cried for them, she was turned to a waterfall as punishment and we know her statue weeps.
· Moonmaiden
Like with Shadowcat constellation, there is a chance when MMoL ascend to the heavens she became the Moonmaiden.
· Maiden, Mother and Crone
The seven portrays them as three different aspects yet in Seven Pointed Star it is the Maiden who gives birth. Though it could be connected to Virgin Birth, I think Hera giving birth to Hephaestus without Zeus should be considered, or Gnostic belief of Sophia giving birth to YHWH without Lucifer's aid, and in both cases the son turned out the be twisted. Since Hephaestus was a Smith and has ae in his name I believe this is connected to Valyrians and their famous steel.
· Hera and Hephaestus
In Greek myths there are two versions of Hephaestus falling to Earth as a baby. In one version he is thrown by Hera after he is born disabled and years later he comes back to get his revenge on Hera. He makes sure she sits on a trapped throne. But the other less known version is when Zeus throws Hephaestus because he is siding with Hera instead of Zeus.
· Maiden and Galadon of the Morne
According to Brienne Maiden fell in love with Galadon and gave him a special weapon which was used to slay a beast. But since Yi Ti tell us the Last Hero was the son of Maiden Mother, it is possible this love is motherly and there is an important theme of mother's sacrificing themselves for their sons.
· Rotten Blue Hard and Lady Forlorn
Like Lady of Spears, Rotten Blue Heart at HotU is connected to MMoL for me. Nissa Nissa was pierced in the heart and all her warmth went to Lightbringer. Lady Forlorn is a special sword, like Dawn it is not Valyrian Steel but can dance against Blackfyre, Forlorn means melancholy, forsaken, and blue.
· A Tall and Twisted Woman with Pale Fire
In Aeron's visions there is a mysterious woman yet to be identified. If Pale Fire is Light though we have our vengeful Nessa, the Night's King's Corpse Queen in those visions.
· Rose of the Red Lake | Florys the Fox ?
Although they are listed as daughters of Garth the Greenhand I think these ladies pre dates him. Rose of the Blue Lake is a skin changer connected to the Cranes. Her Blue Lake changed to a red one after Brandon of the Bloody Blade committed a masacre of CotF. Florys the Fox is even more confusing considering House Florents sigil of blue flowers, and along with House Ball and House Peaks they have matrilineal family trees, husbands of Florys isn't important.
· House Steadmon
If my rambling help establish the fact MMoL is Nissa Nissa then we can talk about the significance of House Steadmon sigil. It is a Red Hearth pierced by a Dagger. An Obsidian dagger perhaps?
God on Earth
· Sapphire Emperor
Well we talked about Galadon and Maiden... So Tarth and his Sapphires is of coursed mentioned. And Sapphires are strongly tied to
· Symeon Star Eyes
He is a legendary figure who put sapphires in his eye sockets after he was blinded and watched Hellhounds at Nightfort. Star Sapphires are known for gold and white asterism. I believe Symeon had gold asterism due to his mother the Amber Empress.
· Azor Ahai the Great Other
If MMoL is Nissa then GoD is AA or HH, Eldric, Neferion, Yin Tar, or even Brandon of the Bloody Blade, maybe he is Florian and MMoL is the Jonquil. The idea of a son slaying his mother might be shocking but if the mother is like Alyssa Arryn or Hera then the son can seek vengeance. And armor himself with Crystal sword and a Mirror Shield. I always thought where Ser Wyn fits because he also seem to be connected to Tarth too. So Symeon Star Eyes is our Great Other, the first wight who "ascend" to North to Land of Always Winter and left the lands they conquered at the South.
· Warrior and Smith
The Faith says the Smith and the Warrior are separate entities but according to other Essosi legends the Smith who made the weapon and the Warrior were one and the same.
TLDR - The First Men can be originally from North and then migrate to South, Houses like Stark, Craster, Greyjoy, Strong, Dayne, etc maybe kin and Westeros myths aren't that far from the legend of AA and his wife. But I still don't know where Bran the Builder actually fits and I am losing my sanity!
Yay my first thread here!
