“Never forget what you are, for surely the world will not. Make it your strength. Then it can never be your weakness. Armour yourself in it, and it will never be used to hurt you.” ― George R.R. Martin, A Game of Thrones
Yep. So here is that one crucial question: Assisting those neverending shenanigans by Mr. Martin, what makes any self-indulgent, enabling GRRM sycophant confident that Mr. Martin will deliver 1500 pages of inspired first draft material right in time to be published before GoT/S6 ?
Seems erikson wanted to write an epic fantasy series so he did. While Martin wanted to write an epic fantasy series so he bought a cinema, bowling alley, watched football games, edited tens of anthologies, sold his stub of a story to television etc etc. I can accept sub-Erikson productivity, but I really hoped the tv show would speed him up a bit - it almost seems like the tv show was his goal all along and he's indifferent to the books or the fans who made the books successful in the first place
Dude, now if you consider that Slynt is one of the founders of the Detractor movement back in 2009 who has been seriously trying to get back into the fold for the last two years (which made me & buddy end up with IWC?, for better or for worse, of which Slynt is the founder), it becomes almost hilariously ironic. I mean - Slynt is really, REALLY trying - but GRRM makes it so fucking tough. It is like a session of DA (Detractors Anonymous), and Martin´s NAB is being dangled like a bottle of Jack D´s in the front of your nose...

LOL I know. I mean, I didn't know all the details, but the irony was not lost on me. What a sad lot we readers of ASOIAF are.
I've long said that GRRM has trained us all to be his Reek.

It´s like A Dance With Readers. Come to think of it, this little game has been going on ever since his comment in aFfC that he would follow up with aDwD one year after aFfC. And that was 10 years ago. A whole fucking decade. I mean - Martin, do whatever the fuck you want, by now, there is other stuff to geek out on. I just get a kick out of the (dwindling) army of Martin-enablers that keep waffling around the issue and show major butthurt when you address this issue.

He keeps saying he wrote chunks that were taken out of the last book for the future book. If that's the case, he shouldn't be so far behind. What if he only has the preview chapters written that he's released?
A friend of mine joked a week ago that he would be releasing wow 165 characters at a time on Twitter.

We simply don´t know. Most of the sample chapters released over the last few years were aDwD leftovers. We have no indication whatsoever what is on paper already or not besides those leftovers. You also got to factor in that he may rewrite whole segments of the book before being satisfied. Now, let´s factor in that he is a slow writer who needs special conditions to be able to *create* and that more often than not, just from compiling and evaluating his NAB entries, these conditions are simply not given to a sufficient degree to make a pre-GoT-S6 release probable.
