if/as BtB became the Night's King, did he father house Stark or was it his 'brother' Brandon the Breaker. Considering the Stark's history of ruthless conquest, the Breaker sounds more likely than the Builder, but it is just conjecture. Could the Builder have been the Warg King, who was allied with the children?
why does he appear all over the country as a builder of amazing buildings? he reminds me of the medieval cathedral builders/architects who went around building castles and churches.
there is a fog of brandons..
...a miasma
It always is with you.
Darkstar will be the next Vulture King.
Craster has 19 daughters and there are 19 castles on the Wall, coincidence I think not!
So, I have read all the books, watch the HBO series and even play the XboX video game but one thing I keep thinking about the Night's Watch Oath. " I will take no wife, hold no lands, father no children." No wife...why not? I feel men will fight harder for their families to keep them safe and their property. It would put an end to the whoring in Moles Town, well maybe not entirely but it would be lessened. Hold no lands...why not. The Night's Watch own lands called The Gift. Why not populate it again with Brothers and allow them to have families. With the property they can harvest whatever the families and the Brothers on the Wall need. Hunt for the meat the Watch requires. Then there will be no fear of starving to death during the winter. Father no children...why not? Another incentive to fight harder but also a continuous supply of men, loyal men not thieves and rapers. Not to mention, they can train them young which is always ideal. The women can do the farming and hunting.
That is my argument for changes in the oath. What's everyone else's opinions?
Stumbled upon this comment while looking for a passage for my Eddard+Lyanna essay. It's quite astute:
if the men of the Watch could wed, father and hold land, they would no longer be in purgatory for their crimes (or shortcomings).
And think about the fact that it is a life sentence: it would turn their family into thralls.
"Arya did not dare take a bath, even though she smelled as bad as Yoren by now, all sour and stinky. Some of the creatures living in her clothes had come all the way from Flea Bottom with her; it didn’t seem right to drown them."
