I'm drawn to that because she's compared to both of them by people who had met them - Barristan and Jorah - as well as her possible Dornish connection vis a vis the lemon tree.
Also, if Rhaegar needs another child, would his bestie Arthur say "let me help you concoct an elaborate plan to nab that Stark girl" or would he say "have you met my sister? "
I'm realizing that I have absolutely no idea. The only two options I'm willing to rule out right now are Rhaella and anyone other than Aerys including Rhaegar or a Kingsguard. And I might be hasty in ruling those out.
Why must I always be the isle of crazy alone in an ocean of sensibility? The should to everybody else’s shouldn’t? The I-will to their better-nots?
I'll vote for Rhaella and Aerys. Though I'd cackle to find out it was Rhaella and Rhaegar. I see where folks find room to question the identity of Dany's parents, but so far I don't see any overriding reason to suppose she's not who she thinks she is. At least insofar as her parents are concerned...

I like the idea of Dany being the 'stillborn' daughter. Although I think the Aerys raping Ashara scenario that Melisandra voted for intriguing. And probably closer to the truth too.
ETA what I mean by the stillborn daughter is that she was Ned and Ashara's, so that's what I voted for.
armstark, Just saw what you had going on over at heresy. Have you ever considered that Drogo might actually be the one to have Blackfyre blood? I don't have a lot of time to go into detail right now, but just remember, he is Drogo, Son of Bharbo. Awfully close to Barba, isn't it?

HA! I just was rambling about the Brackens and Blackwoods on the "Things that make you go hmmmmm" thread.
Perhaps Drogo does have Westerosi blood. Or perhaps the Dothraki got to Westeros really early on and that's where their fear of crossing the water comes from.
But I've also wondered if the Brackens and Blackwoods are just a symbolic representation of the fight between the dragon/dothraki elements and the old gods/weirwoods.
They've been fighting in the Riverlands (the middle space) forever. Each side blames the other. And the whole thing is pointless.
All art is at once surface and symbol. Those who go beneath the surface do so at their peril. Those who read the symbol do so at their peril. It is the spectator, and not life, that art really mirrors. Oscar Wilde.

Hmm, I never considered that. I am interested in other hints of his Blackfyre ancestry you might have identified. But it does seem rather unlikely to me.

Hmmm. Think I might need to say Ashara as mom. Not positive on the Dad though. Could be Rhaegar. Could also be a Kingsguard. Have any of us ever considered Llewelyn Martell? He is said to have a paramour. Just wondering if that could have been Ashara? That would certainly give them some leverage over Dorne. Or should we be adding Arianne or Sam into the mix? We don’t hear much about Allyria either.
In the last couple months I have have wondered this as well. I think our clue might be that Dany's mother is said to have died, yet we have no indication that Rhaella would have risked death in becoming pregnant again. But we are told in the text that this would be Elia's fate if she conceived again. We also have Dany's vision of Rhaegar and Elia and baby Aegon and Dany, as well as Elia in the vision, would have been aware of his feelings on a third "head". I think it's possible that Elia carried a third pregnancy to fulfill this hope of Rhaegar's. evie , have you seen any theories that tie Elia to Dany? I would be interested to read them.
Their father understood as well. "You want no pup for yourself, Jon?" he asked softly.
