My my and I thought I nitpicked things. I have much to learn.
Patience, Grasshopper. Some day, you too can rage against everything simultaneously at full volume.
For now, stretch first. Namaste.
Lady Dyanna--that bingo game is frighteningly accurate.

It appears that the show detractors have started their own reviews of GoT.

i'm fairly critical of the show, but i still watch every week and will until it finishes. At a certain point you can either be critical to the point of absurdity, or you can sit back and enjoy the spectacle. i prefer to enjoy my limited TV time...
There are many good things about the show, and what else is there for fantasy on TV? (yeah, i watched the Shannara Chronicles and that was far, far worse as far as an adaptation goes, but I'll watch it next season too just to support fantasy shows on TV.) i'm so sick of crime dramas and 'reality TV' (don't get me started on my boredom with the superhero genre... ugh), and i want to help keep fantasy shows coming.
apparently WoT got optioned again, and i'm hoping it is picked up by Showtime or Netflix or something... that series is just asking to be a 20 hour season for 12 years epic...

Amen. Plus, it is the only thing currently advancing the plot of the story. Martin just isn't producing. . . yet. Until he decides to finish up, the show's all we got.

Wait. .. .Reality TV is formulaic???? My illusions have been shattered!

Interesting. Given how successful Game has been for HBO, if they can get anyone at all competent to adapt it, they'd be fools to pass it up.
Am now wondering if we're going to get a spate of these shows, rather like the spate of vampire shows after Buffy.

Look on the man's blog at the amount of very substantive entries he has written in just the last 8-9 days. Sure, a blog entry is easier to write than ASOIAF. But it's just bad from an optics standpoint to be so invested in such inconsequential writing on a daily basis when TWOW is already a half year overdue and the show is overtaking him as we speak.

As someone who has been beating this drum for years, do you laugh a little when the rest of the world finally starts coming 'round to the idea that maybe, just maybe, GRRM isn't going all-out to finish this thing?

Not finishing this thing ? That´s an old hat. My little laugh is not even about Gurm not finishing the thing, but rubbing that fact in by whining/wriggling his b.s. into the hardcore fandom´s face while making 15 million greenbacks a year and not delivering anything. And then people catching on.

i've been waiting since the success of the LotR movies. i'm surprised it has taken this long (of course, when 'Legend of the Seeker' was the first fantasy i saw on TV afterwards i was a bit discouraged... that show was... eeek...). Kingkiller chronicles has a weird movie, tv series, game option out there right now, WoT is a possibility, i think Mistborn would be a fantastic series to adapt (you'll need a good effects budget tho), and the Shannara Chronicles has a couple of good things going for it (the teen romance BS dripped from everything tho). there are plenty of other quality fantasy stories that should be doable with modern effects (i'd love to see a live action Dragonlance series, and a bunch of Weiss and Hickman stories would make excellent films/series). I keep thinking this should be the golden age of fantasy and sci-fi in the tv and movie business, but everyone wants to make money on superhero stuff.

i'd say you're entitled to a laugh at that point...
