Bran here is so black and white in his thinking, while oddly enough Maester Luwin, while casting a skeptical frame of mind on things does give the benefit of the doubt--a more grey position.

Wait wait wait... if Valyrian steel can't be forged anymore... who the hell is forging it down in Oldtown? I never considered it--but is there a secret guild of Valyrian steel reforgers in the Citadel?
And just where are they getting all that Valyrian steel for the small handful of maesters who study the higher magics? are they pilfering it off of the maesters that die?

So polite in the south. LOL. I think the writers were glad to be able to write a scene where all the important characters could introduce one another's names without reaching for an excuse of sorts.

I can't help but see how Balon is striking out at the North for Theon (take my son--here's what you'll get!), and Theon can't comprehend it in the least.

Shae betrays the fact that she came from a background where she did not have to worry about what to do in terms of what a handmaiden does. Either she was wealthy enough not to notice, or too poor to give a damn.
