I really like the point that Oberyn claimed he wanted a blonde whore, and then instead bedded a whore who was the complete opposite, and who could possibly have told him tons of useful information. Oberyn used his own reputation to fool his enemies. While they think he's just out fucking whores as per usual, he's actually out collecting information.
Without Doran to be his grass, Oberyn made his own grass.
Smart guy that Oberyn Martell. I really wish Martin had time to do a spinoff for him.
Also Oberyn doing exactly what people thinks he is doing nicely parallels Wyman Manderely's plotting.
I do love this series but I still disagree with certain parts but I think the Martell plots go even deeper than even PJ thinks. prestonjacobs should stop by soon so we can discuss it.

Craster has 19 daughters and there are 19 castles on the Wall, coincidence I think not!
Your lordship lost a son at the Red Wedding. I lost four upon the Blackwater. And why? Because the Lannisters stole the throne. Go to King’s Landing and look on Tommen with your own eyes, if you doubt me. A blind man could see it. What does Stannis offer you? Vengeance. Vengeance for my sons and yours, for your husbands and your fathers and your brothers. Vengeance for your murdered lord, your murdered king, your butchered princes. Vengeance!
markg171, voice, going to sit down and watch the whole thing this week.
As usual lots of things I agree with and plenty I don't.
Marwyn and Qyburn are definitely working with the Dornish.
I don't think the Brave Companions were Oberyns sells word company. Qyburn and mayhaps a few members but certainly not the whole group.
Quentyn we met in the story isn't the true Quentyn Martell just a boy that matched Dorans feature and given to the Yronwood. Quentyn is in Norton with Mellario and is my secret pick for the secret identity of Daario with the Stormcrows being Oberyns sellsword company.
Rhoynish restoration is an interesting notion. Not sure of Doran is planning to win the game of thrones but simply destroy the the Lannisters.
Sad he had no insight on the Marwyn and Roderick the Reader connection. I think there might be a connection.
That's all for now.

Jesus that would certainly be a massive mindfuck. And you know, it's not like we actually ever got Daario's age, hence part of the problem with actually figuring out who he's supposed to be if "Daario" is a disguise. And we don't know what Mellario at all looks like as we've never met her, simply her children... who all inherited the Dornish look. Which tells us nothing about what Mellario looked like, and what features she could've passed on. So it wouldn't be the oddest thing in the world if one of them actually looked like their mother, but we never knew it, and thus technically speaking Daario actually could look exactly how a Martell/Norvosi should look.
Not to mention I find it passingly odd that none of Doran's kids are at all like Oberyn. Or even Lewyn. I suppose one could argue Arianne is based off her rashness (though she's not actually that rash, she waited months for Arys after all), but it seems odd to me that Oberyn not only essentially has nothing in common with Doran's kids, but that he also never really spent any time with them. We know he extensively trained his daughters, as well as a bunch of squires, but where's the same attitude to his brothers sons? Why weren't Quentyn and Trystane ever trained by Oberyn? Quentyn was fostered away sure, but he still had to come home every now and then. But the only thing we've got is that Oberyn offered to knight Quentyn when he was 18 and had passed his tests, but Quentyn instead favoured being knighted by Lord Yronwood. Which really shows that Oberyn had nothing to do with any of his training, whereas Yronwood did and thus Quentyn wanted it from him instead.
On the other hand though, Daario is essentially a Free Cities Oberyn. Same flamboyant attitude, same skill at arms, same interest in woman, etc. He really would make sense as a secret Martell, just simply he's the one who favoured Oberyn.
Not sure if any of that's even possible, but would be funny if Dany had been fucking Quentyn this whole time, and then rejected the fake one
Not sure of Doran is planning to win the game of thrones but simply destroy the the Lannisters.
I saw one comment made that perhaps Doran is also simply not playing at all. If he only plays to win, and he's the Seven Kingdoms could beat Dorne, then he's sitting everything out because he knows he wouldn't win.
I don't agree with that as he's clearly doing stuff, but could also explain why he's not really actively striking.

Daario is Quentyn has been in the back of my mind for awhile. The Quentyn quest never made sense to me or the fostering at Yronwood. The quest was clearly set up to fail.
So we first meet Daario he has blue hair and claims to be from Tyrosh. Just like young Griff.
He has mustachios and we know thanks to the world book that two Essosi cultures have them. The Dothraki and the Norvoshi.
He wears a Dothraki arak and a Myrish stiletto on his waist. The river that separates this two groups is mother Rhoyne. Also it goes up towards Norvos.
When Quentin and company reveal themselves to to Dany, Daario flips out and has to be physically restrainted from attacking them. Seems a bit of an overreaction unless they are claiming that they are you.
So those are a few small points on my Quentin is Daario theory.

(He did bring up "...for a single yesterday" in one of his 1000 Worlds vids though, which actually isn't a part of the 1000 Worlds, but a thread he participated in here...so that was pretty cool. Now I just need to convince him that The Lonely Songs of Laren Dorr and With Morning Comes Mistfall are indeed a part of the 1000 worlds universe as well.)

Yeah, I'm leaning more towards the latter as well. But it may well be that Doran is doing what so many others have done, and attempting to reclaim the King-title for his people.
Recently on a reread I noticed something in the Queen's Hand chapter. Someone named Tal Toraq is the new commander of the Stalwart Shields after Mollono Yos Dob died of the pale mare. How many characters inside Meereen have died of the pale mare? They have access to clean water, right? Anyway, what we know about Tal Toraq is that
1. He is a Summer Islander
2. He displayed a particular interest in the Dornish:
When Belwas sat and crossed his arms, Ser Barristan went on. "Quentyn Martell died this morning, just before the dawn." The Widower laughed. "The dragonrider." "Fool, I call him," said Symon Stripeback. No, just a boy. Ser Barristan had not forgotten the follies of his own youth. "Speak no ill of the dead. The prince paid a ghastly price for what he did." "And the other Dornish?" asked Tal Taraq. "Prisoners, for the nonce."
3. And he came up with what appears to me as a ridiculous battle plan:
Tal Toraq thought that they should march on Yunkai once they had broken through the lines; the Yellow City would be almost undefended, so the Yunkai'i would have no choice but to lift the siege and follow.
What I'm suggesting is that Tal Toraq is someone from the Cinnamon Wind. He is a Summer Islander, is newly appointed to commander of the Stalwart Shields at around the time when we expect Marwyn and co to show up and he asks about Arch and Gerris when nobody else cares or should care. Everyone else simply mocks Quentyn, but Tal is interested in what happened to his friends? And why not be more interested in what happened to the Windblown? Quentyn, Arch and Gerris are just some irrelevant foreigners. The Windblown are an enemy sellsword company that had been illegally hiding and conspiring within Meereen.
To take this a little further, how cool wouldn't it be if the Marwyn is glamored as Strong Belwas? Strong Belwas reappeared for the first time in the Queen's Hand chapter, having lost a lot of weight. I can't find any specific clues in the description of him, I just think it would be kind of clever. It's also possible that Belwas did in fact die, and that Marwyn is reanimating his body. But this isn't based on much.

Interesting notion. This is the first time I have heard about the Tal Toraq theory. I don't think Marwyn has arrived yet. The story makes a strong point on how hard it is to get to Mereen with that blockade.
