No need for the hyphen. You can say asshole here.
It wasn't even that assholish of a move. It was a small jab, followed by me agreeing with you re: Battle Isle. Chillaxify brother.
And as a wise man once said, "Attack the idea, not the person." It makes for a much stronger debate.

Voice doesn't think Dawn is made of metal, so he just dismisses this quote pretty much out of hand.I dismiss Yandel's description because Yandel admits he's never even seen Dawn. Thus it is secondhand (or more) interpretation. Yandel makes no mention of the blade being alive with light, yet Ned does.
That stands out to me as a meaningful discrepancy, as normal metal blades do not emit light.
And I can actually even get behind the idea that Dawn is made of metal. I would only argue that instead of being hot forged carbon, that it is a cold forged metal derived from a type of ice.

voice you said somewhere that meteorite iron wouldn't be good for making swords. Not the case at all - there's a famous meteor sword made by a Japanese swordsmith, certainly not said to be inferior quality, and there are a few other meteor weapons as well in the world.I did not know that. Very interesting. Still, I would imagine such swords do not cut notches out of castle forged steel.

voice, I really cannot engage in discussion with this kind of intellectual dishonesty. And it's not even necessary to support your theory, which I mostly like a great deal. Can we cut the bullshit about TWOIAF, please? There is nothing dishonest about reminding folks that the WB's description was written by a maester who had never actually seen Dawn, and that Dawn's description in the books is a bit more illuminating.
Still, I'm happy to drop the WB convo. Or, if you'd like to hash it out with a bit more context, we could discuss the sword stuff in the Dawn=Ice thread, the canon stuff in the WB = semi-canon thread, or could do either in an entirely new thread. I do not say this to end the discussion, unless you'd like to... I only make this suggestion because it would fit the context and conversation found in those threads better than this one.
