Can't help but notice that this image looks really familar....
...eyes were a grey so dark they seemed almost black, but there was little they did not see. He was of an age ... but they did not look alike ... slender where [his brother] was muscular, dark where [his brother] was fair, graceful and quick where his half brother was strong and fast.
Almost feel like I've seen these two men standing by one another before...

I'm not sure if they have time for subtlety anymore. The visual medium alone makes it difficult. They are on a sprint to the finish and have only now realized they should have been doing flashbacks in order to set up the finale.
Yup. Which is why the fact that they made the tower fight ALL about Arthur seems very telling.
Though I'm not sure they only just realized they should have been doing flashbacks. Given how the medium works, doing them more closely together should be easier on show watchers.
It seems that Jon will escape the unjust execution that befell his father. Dawn always rises.
I'm thinking that's because he's part Stark and part Dayne. If I'm right re: the sleepers, and if Ned's right re: the frozen hell, then Starks are unique re: death. As Daynes are unique re: Dawn.
It really would. And, would buy some more time for GRRM to roll out Winds before next season. (Shut up karsa I need none of your reality checks right now)
So, we should expect another post next New Year's Day re: not getting Winds out before season 7? Sounds like a tradition
That video makes it look like they are saying that the unjust killing doomed both Ned and Stannis. Which I buy. Though Ned's killing of Arthur seems more. . . personal and thus relatable. Stannis may be a truly just man. But Ned's motive is easier to relate to. For me at least.
All art is at once surface and symbol. Those who go beneath the surface do so at their peril. Those who read the symbol do so at their peril. It is the spectator, and not life, that art really mirrors. Oscar Wilde.
Also, whitewolfstark and markg171 are familiar with this one dude on youtube who breaks down the fight scenes. He's a consultant on medieval tactics and swordplay, and perhaps he has offered a breakdown on this particular scene. If not, I'm sure he will be soon. I tag my fellow mods because I can't remember his name. LOL
Here you go
Haven't watched it myself yet as he just uploaded it, but I'm gonna start now
Edit: Okay so for whatever reason the video's not embedding, but here's a link to his breakdown of the fight

Timely this was kinda "bumped" as SerLadySage and I watched this yet again today...-chuckling- He mused that SAD wouldn' t be using two weapons of about the same size for two-handed combat...Hmmmm......
He mused that SAD wouldn' t be using two weapons of about the same size for two-handed combat...Hmmmm......
The way it was choreographed, it made sense... but it really makes it feel choreographed. Like, obviously.
It would've been much cooler to see him holding a 6ft pale milkglass longsword, alive with light, that chipped and notched the blades of Ned's men during the fight. [HASH]Dawn made the 7 vs 3 ending plausible, imo. Holding two swords does not, and the show's version of the fight felt rather strained in terms of credibility. There were plenty of opporunities for Ned's men to bring Arthur down, particularly when they were 4 vs 1. For reasons unknown (honor? lol) they decided to only attack Arthur when he was ready to defend.
And this was just comical:

However, hence, SAD's Suicidal Stance. Ok, he technically mighta been following orders, but theoretically, he KNEW he had to die...for the next SOTM to rise...(We can only hope....)-chuckling-
Forced a rewatch of the "ToJ" showdown on Ser LadySage. He mused that if SAD ISN'T a southpaw, then his fighting stances were "suicidal". AND that it was "hard to tell", if he was in fact, a lefty. - hmmm...- *Mods- please edit title to SAD's not DAD's. I'm challenged...
Hmmm...

Very nice catch! (I fixed that image link for you)
It doesn't make much sense to wear the hilt over the right shoulder unless Arthur was left handed.
Edit:
Hmm no, that doesn't feel right. I'm doing the motions now and it seems much more natural to pull the blade from the same side as the sword hand. Left shoulder for a leftie, right shoulder for right.

Here's another quote sagenadia , Jaime speaking to Loras...
"I learned from the White Bull and Barristan the Bold. I learned from Ser Arthur Dayne, the Sword of the Morning, who could have slain all five of you with his left hand while he was taking a piss with the right. I learned from Prince Lewyn of Dorne and Ser Oswell Whent and Ser Jonothor Darry, good men every one.”
Thanks, voice ! While not definitive, it's looking like SAD was a righty, or maybe a true ambidextrous. At any rate, I'm so ready for "walls of text". Bring them on, my people. 😃
