Try not to be so thick. Lucifer's HAMMER is the comet.wolfmaid7, good lord, did you really think I was unaware of the meaning of Venis and Lucifer? Wow. I have been writing about all of that for over a year. Lucifer is the Latin word for Venus in the morningstar position only - it was called Vesper in it's evenstar position. Lucifer also translates to "son of the morning," dawn-bringer," and "light-bringer" or "light-bearer." All of these ideas have been transposed on the swords and comets in ASOIAF.
voice, the lucifer character in ASOIAF is Azor Ahai. His hammer was a comet. It's not that hard. This idea is lurking around in literature - and he's certainly aware of Nevin's book. Martin is tapping into this mythos in a new and interesting way. Just as Thor's hammer drops lighting, the Hammer of the Waters and the "Storm God's thunderbolt" are the same thing. Thor is of course a storm god. Roberth Baratheon, an obvious parallel of Thor, descends from the Storm Kings, and has a prominent hammers. I could go on and on, but the point is the lighting - hammer connection is being worked into ASOIAF in myriad ways.
