I do not think Jon is shy, but I think he is generally quiet and solitary.
As for Rhaegar botching his ruling, I cannot agree more. But it seems like he was trying to do something, Jon was assassinated at the end of his term too, so it is not the best of indicators about attitude.
As for him being like Stannis, I thought the point of Stannis is he does not compromise and is peety, and the whole point of Jon is that he does compromise and is not petty AT ALL. I do not get Mel there. I think obviously Jon and Stannis respect each other but calling them similar is weird to me.

My overall point in response to what you saw as similarities is alot of these were dependent on environment experiances and choices. There are some situations we know nothing and somethings we can guess at.We can guess Rhaegar was trying to do some good by getting rid of his dad.A father who was batshit crazy, that's the least Rhaegar should have done.
Jon's experiance growing up with siblings was a positive one all round.Robert's wasn't he was sent to be fostered at a young age and didn't have that bonding experiance with his siblings that would have perpetuated such and endearing relationship. Was he capable of such? Yes he formed that with Ned.Stannis grew to have a stick up his arse and Renly, was Renly. All three were disconnected from eachother.
Note,i'm not saying Jon and Robert's approach was different or the same such things again are based on very different experiances.
As for Jon being Starkish, extremly Starkish that goes against any prospect that isn't a Stark.I don't see it as a point in favor or against any prospect because Jon favors Lyanna. From a narrative point i think Jon's Starkishness has a purpose, be it a connection to his mother,or in some future point to affirm that against his internal ramblings of not being a Stark,he is through the maternal line a Stark and son of Winterfell.
I still disagree that Jon was solitary,he had solitary moments when stuff negged at him he would go off on his own walking.Coincidentally,Robert would do the same.He ofcourse would go off hunting..He would "flee to the woods."
Jon spent a great amount of time with his siblings and on the Wall a lot of time with is friends;Grenn,Pyp,Daeron,Edd and mostly Sam.Oh i almost forgot Ghost. He loved being around them and when he wasn't,he missed and thought of them.Sam like Arya came to know Jon's smile, enough so that when he wasn't Sam remarked that Jon hardly smilled anymore.Or when he became LC wasn't that Pyp's complaint "Lord Snow doesn't want to eat with them anymore." He wasn't the person they knew anymore,he became someone else.
Compare that to Ned who on seeing Robert laughing remarked " This is the Robert he'd grown up with, this is the man he'd known and love."
Again, all about experiances that we know happened and could compare and contrast. So yeah given the same experiances in alot of cases and the same choices.Jon and Robert handled them in some cases the same, some differently.
For me the measurable things that stand out physically that are comparative is Jon's temperment and his physical strength.
