Who is this mysterious chap to seemingly appear out of nowhere?? Is he the real Aegon or an imposter- perhaps Illryio's son? Will Dany ever meet him, and will they duke it out or collaborate as dragons? Are there great houses in Westeros now (other than the Martells) who remain loyal to the Targs, and are awaiting the return of the dragon lords to reclaim their throne?
“Never forget what you are, for surely the world will not. Make it your strength. Then it can never be your weakness. Armour yourself in it, and it will never be used to hurt you.” ― George R.R. Martin, A Game of Thrones
I have been thinking about this recently and am near the end a reread of A Game of Thrones so not to much detail has been given at this point but the conversation between Ned a Varys in the dungeon does make me lean towards him being the real deal. I may change my mind when I see more later throughout the series however.
I've seen some real hate for this young Griffin character. I personally love his introduction in Dance. Tyrion on the boat was a good trip. Yes. I said it: good 🙊 Haters can hate all they want!
I think Martin decided at some point that Dany needs a set up battle for the Throne. Lannisters will be half finished and split up something fierce when she gets to KL and besides, IMO from a writing perspective there needs to be a rivalry intense enough between the leaders in order to make a battle for the IT interesting. While I like Meereen because it builds Dany as a Queen, I cannot ignore the complaints that many have: Dany has no clear delineated, well built adversary in Slaver's Bay and thus the story arc was not engaging enough for many readers who look for that rather than Dany's character development on its own.
So long comment just to clarify where I am on the YG part. But as for what will happen when Dany comes to Westeros: a second dance with Dragons. Targ vs Targ. True, he's not all Targ, but I think he's a Blackfyre. So the blood of the Dragon is still flowing through his veins.

Do you think Dany will be the aggressor in the Dance of the Dragons 2.0?
As for young Griffin IMO he is the son of Illyrio (Blackfyre descendant) and Serra (Brightflame descendant) and sister of Varys. The passed over bloodlines are coming back to get their claim on.
Darkstar will be the next Vulture King.
Craster has 19 daughters and there are 19 castles on the Wall, coincidence I think not!

I think Dany will attack. She's got the superior firepower so to speak she IS the last to put her army in Westeros, and I think Young Griff might try to hold Storm's End (or other castle that he might have conquered in between) against the dragons.
I never thought Illyrio was a Blackfyre but it could be. He's pretty bent on funding YG.

I agree. I think the death of Quent will haunt her. Will she approach fAegon differently bc of what happened to Quent? Or will Arienne already be on his arm and insist on vengeance?
The blade was Valyrian steel, spell-forged and dark as smoke. Nothing held an edge like Valyrian steel.

I think this question is basically a toss up. The distinction I believe will be the most important to the saga is which story of Aegon's identity will convince Westeros' people of its truth. Could be we'll never know who he really is...
"No true knight would condone such wanton butchery." "True knights see worse every time they ride to war, wench," said Jaime. "And do worse, yes." Brienne turned the rudder toward the shore. "I'll leave no innocents to be food for crows." "A heartless wench. Crows need to eat as well. Stay to the river and leave the dead alone, woman."
