i was thinking of what SlyWren and Lady Dyanna were talking about in the Jon Starfall thread re: Viserys being melted, and Dany doing nothing to protect him.
Regardless of his horrible character flaws, isn't that still considered kinslaying, which is supposed to be as damned as violation of guest rights? I always wondered if when Robb executed Lord Karstark if he cursed himself by slaying a kinsman, even if they are distant relatives.
I've had about 6hrs sleep in the last two days, so this isn't as detailed as I'd hoped, but I wanted to post it while I had the idea.
Also Theon *may* have killed one of his offspring when he killed the miller's wife's children. Isn't it implied that Ramsay Bolton killed Lord Bolton's heir, or am I getting the show world mixed up with the books?

Hmmm. Dany didn't help, but it was her translation that sealed the deal on the hot crown. Ambiguous...plus I don't think he's her brother. I don't think cousins-removed counts, or Rhaegar and Robert wouldn't be able to fight. So that would absolve Robb for kinslaying. The miller's son, yes, there is a theory that the younger boy could be Theon' s. And yes, Lady Barbrey? Or was it Roose? thought Ramsey killed Domenic Bolton.

I agree--and then I remember the Bael Tale, which Ygritte tells after telling Jon that she was at least somewhat related to the men Jon and the Watchmen killed. That she's kin to them as she is to Jon. They share blood. Karstark says something similar, no?
Still, the "cousins" vs. "King and vassal" issue seems unsolvable. At some point, treason is treason. Seems like the last of kinslaying, like most things to do with the gods in Martinlandia, is a muddle. Which makes the question of how to "fix" all of this a problem.
Am also wondering if Rhaegar and Robert didn't mind fighting because they are southerners. Tyrion dislikes the idea of being a kinslayer. But Robert doesn't worry re: Rhaegar. Could be that they are only distant cousins. Could also be less strict reading of the laws.
Hmm. . . now I need to do a search and don't have time.
All art is at once surface and symbol. Those who go beneath the surface do so at their peril. Those who read the symbol do so at their peril. It is the spectator, and not life, that art really mirrors. Oscar Wilde.
