However, reports have surfaced that Martin has already finished the book which is currently being proofread. According to rumors, the official copy will launch in 2017. Fans have also speculated that the delay could be attributed to the author working on more projects than one with some saying that Book 6 may become available at the same time as Book 7 — “A Dream of Spring.” Martin has apologized for the delay.

They must have interviewed karsa for that one.
Those idiots actually based this on the French Amazon fluke from back when? Yup, they sure as fuck interviewed me...
The wait at this point has just grown past "seriously we need to get a move on."
Oh yes, we're long past that. karsa just shared a link to a letter that sounds eerily familiar to our current situation.
A few haunting passages from that letter:
As of this writing, GRRM has not published the perspectives of the three main characters central to the story (Jon, Dany, or Tyrion) in almost eleven years, when establishing a pattern of one full novel every two years between 1996 and 2000.
It has now been 5 years, 4 months, and 27 days since ADWD was published, and it's been 11 years, 1 month, and 22 days since we heard from Brienne, Sansa, Samwell. If I recall correctly, we've not had a single POV character in Dorne or the Iron Islands in those 11 years.
Also, the only thing that Mr. Martin has been consistent about over the past decade is his ability to break numerous deadlines on A Dance with Dragons which he's been working on since 2000. Then, in January 2008, he just gave up working under deadlines entirely, and instead just stated that the series would be done 'soon'.
Mr. Martin's current writing pace, age, lifestyle habits, and attitudes towards the series (referring to the story as Kong, the proverbial burdensome monkey on his back) don't exactly lend to wild optimism towards an ultimately satisfying conclusion, especially when taken into context with his rampant enthusiasm for his other projects, vacation schedule, and the HBO show which may indeed catch up to Mr. Martins written works, if successful.
Clearly, this guy was psychic.

We've already gotten a wild cards book or two I think, right? So I'm definitely thinking we'll get at least one more.
Maybe 2+ by the time season 7 is over?
Feeling nostalgic for this thread.
Since Dance, they've published three (3) of these fantastic Wild Cards collections. Only one since this thread was posted. But there is most definitely hope for one more.
Can we add a "Heat Death of the Universe" option to the poll?

This thread began Sep 4 2016. Since then, GRRM has announced:
[HBO's Game of Thrones Season Seven premiers, 2017]
24 Wild Cards VI: Ace in the Hole (2/28/2017 reissue)
25 Wild Cards VII: Dead Man's Hand (6/13/2017 reissue)
26 Texas Hold 'Em (2017)
.15 The Sons of the Dragon
If we don't get at least 2 additional reissues, and 3-12 new Wild Cards publications by the time Elio and Linda finish The Winds of Winter, I'll be very disappointed.
Can we add a "Heat Death of the Universe" option to the poll?
Trump's trying, ain't he? I'm wondering which is more outlandish, The Winds of Winter being published in our lifetimes? the Gods destroy earth with a red comet? or, civil war forces GRRM into exile in the Lands of Always Winter?
