Here's one for you arrysfleas , Dornish Neck Tie , Wraith , voice , I decided to do a reread starting from CLash (I've AGOT waaaay too many times) and right in the prologue we get some classic Patchface craziness and something struck me.
Here's the quote:
After that Cressen gives us Patchface's origin story. First look at the the repeated phrase; "Clever bird, clever man, clever clever fool". Does Patchface see someone in the bird ? Is that the clever man ? Is he the clever fool for seeing it ? Does Patchface warn that person ? He sings, "“The shadows come to dance, my lord, dance my lord, dance my lord,” he sang, hopping from one foot to the other and back again. “The shadows come to stay, my lord, stay my lord, stay my lord.”. "My Lord" ? Who is Patchface addressing here ? Cressen ? I don't think so. Right after Patchface delivers his warning the raven has a fleeby, it's not happy about something. I think that someone saved Patchface from drowning and placed him as an agent with Stannis. Due to his near death experience he is able to perceive things others are can't and he is reporting the arrival of a shadowbinder to Stannis' court and that she is here to stay.
So who is in the white raven ? I want to avoid deus ex bloodraven so I'll go leftfield and suggest Euron. what does everybody think, anything there ?
Here's the quote:
“Clever bird, clever man, clever clever fool,” said Patchface, jangling. “Oh, clever clever clever fool.” He began to sing. “The shadows come to dance, my lord, dance my lord, dance my lord,” he sang, hopping from one foot to the other and back again. “The shadows come to stay, my lord, stay my lord, stay my lord.” He jerked his head with each word, the bells in his antlers sending up a clangor.
The white raven screamed and went flapping away to perch on the iron railing of the rookery stairs. Shireen seemed to grow smaller. “He sings that all the time. I told him to stop but he won’t. It makes me scared. Make him stop.”
