Rather than be buried on a hilltop that sounds like one of Sansa's fantasies, Lyanna chose the place where the Kings of Winter are shielded by their wolf-blooded direwolves.
Might not be Sansa's fantasy. But the echoes of this and other things in Lady's death--I still say Sansa's who to look to for how the Targs were involved in the death of the wolf maid.
Dutiful? Surely Barristan cannot suggest a man who cheated on his wife to have sex with a betrothed child-woman of high-birth was "dutiful"... that doesn't add up.
I agree. But it still seems to undermine Rhaegar as "Bael" figure. The intent--grudge-match and one-upmanship--not there. Rhaegar wants the throne. But it's Aerys who's irrationally, spitefully angry at enemies.
Winter.
Though Bran specifically dreams of a knight with a sword of starfire after thinking of Ned's statement re: Arthur.
I'd argue these acts were one and the same: the discovery of Lyanna at Starfall when Ned returned Dawn. As WeaselPie has deftly pointed out, Lyanna being at the tower of joy is not canon. And, what is canon, is the "they" who burst in and find Ned still holding her. There was no "they" at the tower of joy, only Howland.
I'm starting to agree with this--In Game, we get Ned's basic activities: tower fight, pull down tower, leave with Howland, return sword to Starfall. All connected. Lynn's bed of blood, in a room that smells of blood and roses where "they" find Ned--so much easier to fit and manage if she's just at Starfall.
Not only did she match him (like those squires at the tourney), she was the chink in SAD's white kg armor. Even though she may not have changed SAD's nature, it seems she did enough with Arthur to fill the air with sweetness.
Changing nature? Hmmm. . . like Lyanna echo Sansa changes the Hound's intent. Leaving him to reject his cloak, stained with blood and fire, and leave her with it for comfort. Leaving over the use and atrocity of Targ wildfire.
