anybody read these? (The Name of the Wind and A Wise Man's fear)
i need to chat about them with someone, but i know no one who has finished them. i'm more looking forward to the final book for this than i am looking forward to WoW...
anyway, if you've read them and don't mind bandying back and forth about them, let me know.

I read it last year. The story is great but Patrick Rothfuss writing is amazing. Actually, a large part of my enjoyment of that book is tied up into the writing itself.

The guy does know how to string words together, for sure.
i was rereading this last week, and noticed a strange connection between Kvothe and Taborlin the Great. Taborlin's magic items were a key, candle, coin, cloak of no particular color, sword, and staff. Kvothe is given a key, coin, and candle by Auri, cloak of shadow by Felurian, sword by the Adem, so i'm wondering where he's going to get a staff now. i'm finding a bunch of parallels to all the stories in the narrative to Kvothe's tale, and combined with the magic mentioned regarding you just write it down and it becomes true, i think he's trying to rewrite some of the history and make it true. or something. probably my second favorite series right now.
and yeah, Rothfuss finishes about as well as gurm, but for vastly different reasons imo...
Read those books years ago, but more casual. Haven't gone over them and trying to puzzle everything out, and I think it will take some time before I have time for that. A wonderfull story for the most part! That part with him in the library with open flame is just so painfull I've only read it once, LOL!

He really is good with words! That little book abouT Auri is one of the most beautiful things I've read!

True! Didn't know about his troubles until reasently, just became irritated that all he seemd to do was charity things. So I understand better why it takes so long. I want more than three books too, as I like the story and the world so much, but that would probably be a bad idea if it takes so long!
