Varys asks Ned what about his daughterS lives. He knows Arya is gone. I wonder what his plan was if/when Ned was to take the journey North to the Wall. Surely Ned would realize Arya wasn't there.
David Bradley is an awesome Walder Frey.
IMO it would have made sense for Cat to take a few of Walders daughter's as her ladies. Perhaps groom them. Cat should have lied better about the daughters.
"If the day should come that your Lord father (Rhaegar) should be forced to choose between duty (Elia) and love (Lyanna), what would he choose?"
I love that Aemon gets so upset about what they did to Rhaegar's children as he's unknowingly talking to one of Rhaegar's children.
Is it my imagination or did Dany's belly get a LOT larger since the last episode. I could hardly even notice it when she had MMD sew him up.
It would have been a better lie if Dany had told them they needed to camp bc her time was near. Less problems.
I'm glad they kept the issue with 2 battle axes in the show. Cracks me up.
Tyrion wants the girlfriend experience from Shae.
Jorah's face looks like he can smell Drogo's death.
I'm surprised that no one discussed what happens to a Khalessi when her Khal dies until now.
Why aren't Drogo's bloodriders planning on joining him?
MMD looks right at Dany's belly when she says, "No, not your death Khaleesi...bring me his horse."
Gotta pause for a little while.
The blade was Valyrian steel, spell-forged and dark as smoke. Nothing held an edge like Valyrian steel.
Starting now and I don't wanna. This one cuts me deep.
This is the hardest part of every rewatch and every reread. The Red Wedding, too. But this one sure does cut deep. I think the hardest part is the way it is delivered in Arya's POV. If it were Sansa's or Ned's, it wouldn't have been quite so impactful. But Arya has fled the usurpers knives, survived in Flea Bottom, and now finally sees her father again.
And if you don't love Arya, I want to fight you.
On the first read, we are expecting this to go as planned. Ned, our primary POV, will be pardoned and sent to the Wall. Then, GRRM makes us pay for our great expectations.
On the first watch, we are expecting this to go as planned (Ned's pardon) so that Ned can finish this conversation:
Jon wants to know about his mom, wants to know if she knows where he's going and if she cares... and Ned promised to tell him the next time they see each other.
And now, I need to rest my eyes. Someone must be chopping onions in the other room.
"I can see it. You have more of the north in you than your brothers."
This is the hardest part of every rewatch and every reread.
I haven't even finished it yet. I really don't wanna. lol I'm going to have to man-up tonight so I can move past it. Plus with MM working I am solo every fn night for a few hours. No mas excuses.

Ok, back at it...
I like Tyrions game.
I'd really like Bronn and Shaes back stories. Bronn has been North of the Wall?! I hope that comes up again.
Shae isn't lowborn.
3 chickens between 2 people?! Small birds!
Weird that the story about Tysha didn't include Tyrion having to sleep with her for a gold dragon.
Tyrion getting struck reminds me of Arya getting hit with the axe. Intentional?
Where the eff is Grey Wind?!
Send a raven immediately...Jaime for Ned, Sansa and Arya.
I like how Robb admits Jaime would best him in single combat. But still outwits him.
Fuck, I hear the bells. *whispers to self "be strong"
It's beautiful that Ned and Arya lock eyes for a moment. And he stops speaking briefly to look at Sansa and draw strength. He looks like he wants to vomit saying Joff is king.
One of the best edited and acted scenes I've ever seen. 😓
The blade was Valyrian steel, spell-forged and dark as smoke. Nothing held an edge like Valyrian steel.
I know. My heart sinks when I watch this. Crap I caught another detail yet again forgot... I noticed the golden dragon too.
Oh, it's touching when we find out about Aemon. In the books he was tested 3 times. I figured one was when he passed the crown to Aerys, two Robert's Rebellion, but I assumed maybe love was the third. I never figured it out. It's so powerful when he tells Jon he'll need to live with his decision for the rest of his life like he did. You can hear the sadness in his voice, I think he regrets it, because ironically he asks Jon if his father would choose love or honor, and later says Ned is one in 10,000 if he'd do whatever was right.
He chose the love of his daughters and basically dishonored Robert (in his eyes). This man is such an idiot and could have saved so much trouble if he'd had just gone listened to Renly & LF.
What episode was that? Problem with binge watching. God what idiots those Starks are. Where does Arya get her brains? Must be something in the Tully genes because Blacksmith is sharp.

And yes, I missed his eye contact with Arya until my second rewatch. That was tear jerking. And it shows Cersei doesn't have the control she thought she had. I love when she finds out idiot Joffrey fucked up and Jaime is captive, though I still hate Cat for letting him go.

• “You think my life is so precious to me that I would trade my honor for a few more years of what the Wall?” Neds sneer at joining the black is interesting because he encouraged Jon to join. • Also interesting how Varys asks Ned if his daughters life is a precious thing to him, and how it mirrors Aemon Targaryian’s speech to Jon about what is honor compared to that of a loved one. • Walder Frey is gross. He licks his lips as he tells Catelynn about the 15 year old he’s banging. • Robb has to marry an ugly chick to cross a bridge? He should have pulled a Julius Caesar and had his men build a bridge! • Jorah is pretty graphic in his description to Dany, “Your son will be plucked from your breast and given to the dogs.” • Who are Shay’s mother and father? Did she come from a highborn family? It seems to be implied during their drinking game. • Poor Drogo… Who would have guessed that dressing a wound with horse shit and grass would cause the wound to get infected? • So Jorah thinks the lady whos conjuring up the spirits is going to take time out of her day to deliver a baby? • First Catelyn has Tyrion as a prisoner and now Jaime is prisoner. • Strange to realize because everyone sees Ned as being a noble person, but in the world of Westeros Ned would be known as a traitor because of his confession at the Septo Baylor. • That’s a big fucking sword that was used to cut off Neds head. • I remember watching all the videos of people who were shocked and pissed off that they killed Ned.

What’s funny is that she’s kind of portrayed as an evil witch, but her reasoning for killing Drogo and Dany’s child is solid. It’s basically the answer to the question of “Would you kill HItler in the womb if you had the chance?”

Every time I read that scene in the books I still want Ned to make different decisions! I still think he is one of the best characters in the entire series.
