Getting into this series now. It's really setting off many synapses, but I can't quite grasp the conclusion my mind is trying to get to... only on part 2, hoping for more inspiration!

Finally got through all of these. I must say, I'm really impressed by the analysis.
I do think one could reach the same conclusions without reading GRRM's previous work - i.e. the hive-mindedness of the children; the somewhat post-apocalyptic nature of Planetos, etc.
I also don't think it's necessary to conflate ASOIAF with Sci Fi: you don't need nuclear weapons to have a 'nuclear winter'; if you have dragons, that can create just as much havoc and damage.
I like the general idea of flipping everything on it's head though: prophecies are planted; dreams are manipulations; this isn't Tolkien etc.
I think it was a bit of a stretch trying to dismiss Mel's shadow babies like that. It requires more analysis.
Overall, thoroughly entertaining, and I'm gonna go watch more of his stuff.
