One can really tell here that the Kingsroad episode starts with a lot of promise, showcasing a cast more comfortable with their roles, and yet still seeking to define them.
One thing that really jumped out at me was how Dany's treatment shifts from the pilot--where she went from being Drogo's property to being bathed in milk or cream (dear lord she's got to smell rather badly after that). Yes, she's a Khaleesi, but going from having her being fucked from behind to her being carefully taken care of is so disjointed a portrayal one almost feels as though there's whiplash from the experience.
Next, we see a change in how Dinklage plays Tyrion, slightly. He's found his book smarts. While before he was witty and perverted, here his intelligence is actually put on display--though how the heck he fell asleep in the stables, I'll never know. They should have cut to a second scene where Tyrion didn't immediately start talking with Joffrey and Sandor--but after having taken a few paces away from the stall on his way to get "cleaned up" before breakfast.
I love Mark Addy's Robert here. He comes across as more competent than book Robert and passionate--even if I disagree with his wanting to kill Dany.

He drinks and knows things, tis the Tyrion Lannister MO.
Darkstar will be the next Vulture King.
Craster has 19 daughters and there are 19 castles on the Wall, coincidence I think not!
I just finished this today but I'll come back to discuss later I'm going to put on #3 before bed to catch up
