Ok I haven't finished the episode but right off the back I really hate Ned's contempt for Jaime.
Ned was PART OF THE FUCKING REBELLION! THE LANNISTERS WERE SUPPOSEDLY ALIGNED WITH ROBERT!
it's just so hypocritical because someone had to do the job. Yet Jaime is shunned for doing the dirty work he was required to do.
my memory is blending but I can't recall if we discussed here or at SH book or show, whether Ned/Cat knew how Rickard and Brandon Stark died. I think it's pretty obvious that Ned did know, as he discussed it with Jaime but I don't know if he told Cat. In the books it seems like she didn't know.

The whole 'kingslayer' thing is heavily frowned upon by more than just Ned. And at some point in season 1 Ned actually says that part of his problem with Jaime is that he finds Jaime sitting on the throne right after that shit happens, which implies a lot of things about Jaime in Ned's eyes that may or may not be true (I don't remember Jaime's motives for chillin' briefly on the throne).
Also, Ned usually has a stick up his ass (which can be funny at times)

I don't recall if they say so in the show, but Jaime was really young. When you read his POV in Storm of Swords, it's more like he just kind of sat down, maybe he was curious, I can't remember but it was innocent enough; it was his inner monologue, so he wasn't lying.
Even Robert tells Ned he's overreacting about Jaime sitting on the throne. He fucking saved KL from getting blown up, and had he not killed Aerys, not only would he have died, but his dad would've died too. If I was Jaime I'd carry a chip on my shoulder too. Cersei's a Flying Dog Raging Bitch IPA for sure, she started murdering as a child, but Jaime played his role. He made a game time decision, and Ned would've burned too. It's too bad he never told anyone.
However, reading and watching the first season/book, it's easy to hate Jaime regardless for pushing Bran out a window. I really hope he survives the series, but I have a feeling he won't since he's on a redemption arc. My guess is he'll somehow die with Cersei. Maybe she'll do a crazy murder-suicide being that she's obsessed with them dying together.
See I don't think she loves Jaime. She's a narcissist and Jaime is her twin, an extension of herself. She fucks whoever while he's not around and uses sex to manipulate, and she's disgusted when he becomes an amputee.
But I digress. Perhaps I only got upset about that scene because I know what else is happening.
Well surprise, I fell asleep again, so I'll try to watch more though I'm probably going to have a food coma after I eat my chipotle for lunch.

By the way, does anyone else think Old Nan might be the smartest person in Westeros along with Maester Aemon? They seem to actually know what's up. Hope Old Nan survives to tell everyone she told them so.

Ok so in the show Robert is telling Selma about how right before he hammered Rhaegar, he yelled wait! Wait!
Wouldn't it be interesting if Robert missed a good opportunity to gather a hidden piece of intel? I don't remember that scene from the first book, though. But in the books it implies or tells, I can't remember, that Rhaegar planned to overthrow Aerys anyway. Kind of frustrating that we didn't get to hear what he had to say before shitting himself when he died.

Holy shit I never caught Benjen telling Tyrion that the wildlings don't give him sleepless nights, not to tell him what's north of the wall since Tyrion has never been there. In Clash we learn that Benjen and the higher ups knew about the white walkers, it was subtle. But this kind of cements my belief that Benjen knows what's out there. I just wish the damn NW would share info.
Like why does Mormont act ignorant later when the dead dudes turn into wights? I find it hard to believe he has no idea. The First Ranger would have said something. Mormont even knew about raster's sacrifices. I guess they needed more proof.

Ok at the end of the episode I noticed another nuance. As Ned watches the sword lesson with Syrio and Arya, you hear the clash of swords and armor as the camera pans to Ned and the show fades to black. I think he's having a flashback. They are using wooden swords there should be no metal clinking. I never noticed Arya was a leftie, but maybe it's mentioned in the books. Sounds vaguely familiar.
It would be nice to know what Ned was thinking about. I'd say Lyanna, but who the fuck knows how the show will end. Ok I dug this episode I'll give it a 9.

Ok I haven't finished the episode but right off the back I really hate The Headless Man's contempt for Goldrod the Handless.
The Headless Man was PART OF THE FUCKING REBELLION! THE LANNISTERS WERE SUPPOSEDLY ALIGNED WITH King too Fat to fit in his armor!

I think it's pretty obvious that The Headless Man did know, as he discussed it with Goldrod the Handless but I don't know if he told Cat. In the books it seems like she didn't know.
I watched this scene a few times, and it’s a very well written scene that I never realized before you pointed it out. After a little bit of banter Jaime says to Ned that he’s standing in the very spot where the Mad King burned his father and brother alive. Ned in turn replies that Jaime just stood there while his family were burned to death. Jaime responds by saying that when he killed the Mad King that it felt like justice was served. Ned is basically upset because Jaime could have killed the Mad King before his family was killed, but instead Jaime uses their deaths to justifying killing the Mad King. Ned then basically calls Jaime pathetic, drops the mic, and walks out of the room. It’s worth watching the scene over again because I caught all that before.

*** Ned is obviously a fiscal conservative, but I think that he would be a proponent to universal health care because otherwise his sister may not have died in a backwood castle in the middle of nowhere.
*** Joffrey is a pussy crying over a little sting.
*** Ned only left the North twice, and both times he did the realm erupted into chaos. If Ned hadn’t followed Robert chances are that Robert would have lost the rebellion. The current story would be completely different if Ned hadn’t left to become the Hand.
*** I find it interesting that Cersai says “Everyone who isn’t us is the enemy” and now everyone close to her is dead and gone. I think Cersai is either going to self destruct from paranoia, or she’s going to grow as a character and learn to trust others.
*** Ser Duncan the Tall. Nice call back to the Dunk and Egg novellas.
*** Horrible fighting scenes at the Wall. Jon is kind of a dick. I don’t think he needed to break peoples noses.
*** You would think that if the Ned and Catelyn seriously suspected the Lannisters of attempting to kill Bran that they would have sent Sansa and Arrya back to Winterfell when she left.
*** War Stories by Robert Baratheon
*** “Burn them all” Mad Kings last words in reference to Ned Starks family who were burned alive.
*** Jorah Moremont is fluent in Dothraki. Surprised he isn’t the one teaching Dany the language.
*** Jorah, now needs to report back to King Baratheon that Dany got knocked up. He wasn’t very discreet about that was he?
***LOL! Tyrion is pissing off the side of the Wall!!!
*** Syrio Forrell is one of the most memorable characters in the entire series. You have to give the actor credit for that because he really took the character and ran with it.
*** Mojo points out that the episode ends with Ned having an apparent flashback. What’s interesting is is that earlier in the show Robert Baratheon, Barristan Selmy, and Jaime were talking about their war stories and first kills. They discuss how people are begging for their lives, shitting themselves, and just an over all horrible experience. Back to the final scene when Ned walks into the doorway we still hear wood banging together and Ned kind of smiles and giggles a little. When the banging turns to metal swords clanging together they flashback to Ned in the doorway and he is no longer smiling, but has a somber look on his face. I imagine that he’s thinking of his daughter and the horrors of war.

*** The scene between Maester Aemon and Tyrion kind of puts to rest the theory that Jon and Tyrion have the same mothers. Tyrion says that he has lived through 9 winters. The winter of his birth was 3 years long, while the current summer is 9 year. If the rest of the winters were a year long a piece that would mean Tyrion lived through 11 years of winter + the current 9 years which would be 20 years. Then you have to add in a few summer years in between the winter years and that would make Tyrion around 30 years old in the show. Jon Snow is much younger than Tyrion.
*** The scene between Grey Sheep Aemon and Overrated Demon Monkey kind of puts to rest the theory that The Corpse that was Promised and Overrated Demon Monkey have the same mothers. Overrated Demon Monkey says that he has lived through 9 winters. The winter of his birth was 3 years long, while the current summer is 9 year. If the rest of the winters were a year long a piece that would mean Overrated Demon Monkey lived through 11 years of winter + the current 9 years which would be 20 years. Then you have to add in a few summer years in between the winter years and that would make Overrated Demon Monkey around 30 years old in the Those two assholes fan fiction. The Corpse that was Promised Snow is much younger than Overrated Demon Monkey.
@ser Dontos What are your thoughts on this?

I had no idea that there was a theory that proposed that The Corpse that was Promised and Overrated Demon Monkey had the same mother. I might need help from the timeline experts as well, once I've figured out who you're talking about. regular jon umber , @florian, @prettypig , @moon Boy, kinglittlefinger , @patchface, orderofthegreenhand .
I know. I wrote it and didn’t know what I wrote after I submitted it. Some people think that Tyrion is a secret Targ because his mother died giving birth the same as Lyanna did.

I've read theories suggesting Tyrion was a secret Targ, and that the death of his mother might be evidence of this, as Targaryens are often plagued with difficulties in child-rearing.
But I think most fans of "Tyrion Targaryen" connect him to dragonblood through his father. Mad King Aerys had a thing for Joanna Lannister, and took extra liberties with her during some bedding ritual. I forgot which. But anyhoo, It is often suggested that Aerys cuckolded Tywin, and that this is one more reason why the two became estranged and is one more reason why Tywin is less than kind to Tyrion.
"I can see it. You have more of the north in you than your brothers."
silentmajority, burn them all is mentioned in Swords- I think when Jaime is at harrenhall after he loses his hand. It references the mad king wanting to burn down KL with wildfire
