- Why is Dragonstone abandoned, and why has nobody bothered to take it if it's such a great location like Jaime mentions? - How come Jaime knows about the Frey Feast, but doesn't seem to know who did it when Arya explicitly told the girl to spread word that the Starks had?
I think of the all the bulletpoints, most of which can be answered with the general line: "according to the show the NW only has about 49 men left now, because Jon took 1 with him when he left south" these are the ones that really hurt the enjoyment of the show for me.
Dragonstone abandoned was a big factor why I thought Dany coming home was a let down. Visually, they are asking me to believe the whole island is abandoned, not a single human left. It's just too unbelievable to comprehend that no house would want it, and ask for it. I would assume show Storm's End has the same fate (?) not that we would ever know. I suppose the show world is much leaner and all who supported Stannis somehow relocated their households (?) However, if that's the case, Dany could have returned home a long time ago. Not much to conquer after all, Varys should have told her that the Crown doesn't want her home.
I think Jaime not knowing about who is the enemy who took out the Fres, a Lannister ally looks pretty bad. It defeats the purpose of Arya declaring and basically announcing to the world that the Starks are coming for them and the North remembers. It looks silly to have her make such a short and powerful statement specifically to be spread out, just so the message only to get across half-assed.
- If the Archmaester believes Sam and thinks he's telling the truth, and believes in the tales of the first Long Night, then why would he still deny him permission to study the texts on the first Long Night?
Because: asshole. You can tell by the way he sees the people who study at the Citadel and the speech he made how they are the "memory" of the humanity that he thinks of themselves as powerful observers and infallible in the few things they do NOT question. The Wall withstanding everything is one of those few things that they apparently do not question (everything else, Marwyn tells Sam that they doubt). Pretty smug superior asshole who believes they are the privileged ones, a breed apart. Kinda makes one wish the Others would bring the Wall down and head straight for Oldtown...
“Don’t fight in the North, or the South. Fight every battle everywhere. Always, in your mind.”
I don't know anything about that, but I always thought that Jon would die again once the magic receded.
I would tend to agree if magic receded, but I would also think the rules would break for Azor Ahai Reborn. There's power in a king's blood, metaphorically speaking.

Dragonstone was empty bc there aren't enough episodes to show us her cleaning house (except for 1 gd banner and the messy table due to making shadow babies). #lazy
The blade was Valyrian steel, spell-forged and dark as smoke. Nothing held an edge like Valyrian steel.
Just realized that the Hound speaks some words over the grave that are very similar to the words Dunk speaks over Ser Arlan's grave.
LOL I did a double back. All it stood out for a fraction of as second from what the Hound said last night on this subject was "fuck it, I forgot the rest" and I was 100% sure that's not something Dunk said.
You'd be surprised.
"I can see it. You have more of the north in you than your brothers."

Here's the passage I was thinking of:
The Hedge Knight
"I'd leave your sword, but it would rust in the ground," he said at last, apologetic. "The gods will give you a new one, I guess. I wish you didn't die, ser." He paused, uncertain what else needed to be said.
He didn't know any prayers, not all the way through; the old man had never been much for praying.
"You were a true knight, and you never beat me when I didn't deserve it," he finally managed, "except that one time in Maidenpool. It was the inn boy who ate the widow woman's pie, not me, I told you. It don't matter now. The gods keep you, ser." He kicked dirt in the hole, then began to fill it methodically, never looking at the thing at the bottom. He had a long life, Dunk thought. He must have been closer to sixty than to fifty, and how many men can say that? At least he had lived to see another spring.
It's just too unbelievable to comprehend that no house would want it, and ask for it.
prestonjacobs made the excellent point in his video on the episode that, given the location of Dragonstone in the entrance to Blackwater Bay, Euron had to have sailed his armada passed it to get to King's Landing's harbour... which makes it so, so, so dumb that Dragonstone is abandoned. You're telling me that Euron fucking Greyjoy didn't seize Dragonstone when he sailed by it and saw it was empty? That's ridiculous.
Not to mention, but if he legitimately is offering his services to Cersei, why wouldn't he have seized Dragonstone simply to prevent Dany being able to take it in the first place and being able to sail on King's Landing? He himself said Dany is going to attack King's Landing. Again, you need to sail by Dragonstone to do so. If you seize Dragonstone and plant your fleet in a line across the bay, she can't get in without battling you first.

Exactly. She had this huge speech about ensuring everybody knew who'd killed the Freys, and then we hear that nobody actually knows who did so. Not even their biggest allies.
The scene just seems dumb in hindsight if word spread but nobody bothered to mention it was the Starks like she said to.
Your lordship lost a son at the Red Wedding. I lost four upon the Blackwater. And why? Because the Lannisters stole the throne. Go to King’s Landing and look on Tommen with your own eyes, if you doubt me. A blind man could see it. What does Stannis offer you? Vengeance. Vengeance for my sons and yours, for your husbands and your fathers and your brothers. Vengeance for your murdered lord, your murdered king, your butchered princes. Vengeance!

Here it be:
Thank you for the link, I'll watch it later. He does make a good point as Mark mentioned above about Euron passing by. If he knew Cersei wouldn't trust him without some kind of proof or gift as he said it, him holding it for the Crown against Dany would make sense.

Love it. Parallel with Sandor completely and perfectly drawn in total awkwardness when burying the dead and saying a few words. Minus the "fuck it".

It also strikes me now that, depending on the timeline of all of this, if Euron sailed his armada into Blackwater Bay, and Dany seized Dragonstone with her armada, then Euron is trapped in Blackwater Bay no? The same reason why Euron holding Dragonstone would've prevented Dany getting in to King's Landing means that Dany holding Dragonstone prevents Euron getting out of Blackwater Bay.
Ugh. This is all pretty dumb from the greatest captain across the 14 seas.

This is all pretty dumb from the greatest captain across the 14 seas the intrigue and nuance we've begun to take for granted from David Benioff & D. B. Weiss.
