tzalaran I liked this episode too a lot more action than last week. There were continuity errors but overall it was very entertaining

yup, i gave it an 8 because i was just as entertained as last week, the plot moved forward and it was a little bit less boring than last week.
loved the Arya scenes, Jamie and Tarly was good, loved the Jon scene with him looking at Ned's statue (didn't care for the LF interaction, man LF has gotten stupid methinks), liked Missandei, and the naval battle was pretty interesting (or at least not as boring as the long slog through Dragonstone).
Cersei's scene fell flat with the nobles (first time i've thought that about Lena's performance in the series), didn't care for the uber crossbow, thought the whole Jon/Sansa and Northern lords fell flat as well. Leaks have been on point, so i might have to stop reading them and maybe that would help, but still, best TV i've watched all week (because its the only TV i've watched all week...)
Gave it a 7....What I liked this week was certain I interactions.I loved the Dragonstone chats between Varys and Dany.Particularly Varys.Loved the Dany and Oleena scene as well.Particularly Oleana' s advice.
Ok if the translation of the prophecy depicts no gender. Then Missandei, why would you then say the proper translation is prince or princess? Sloppy and stupid.
The writing for that was too much can service.
Did Little finger get dumb all of a sudden?Nevertheless,I did like Jon roughing him up a bit, though it was unwise to do that. The guest of anger was true to form.
The Cersie /Quburn scene meh ,but I did dig the Jamie scene with Tarly.
I didn't like the Arya scene because I haven't liked D&D's interpretation of the Stark relationship with their wolves.
That scene was BS.I hated it.
Release the Kraken scene was, ok though there were some mistakes in my mind with that scene.

- Agreed! The Arya stuff was great. Jaime was very Tywin-like dealing with Randall Tarly. As far as LF, he went down there to see if he could make Jon angry. He is plotting and probing the KiTN for weakness. He will make his move while Jon is gone me thinks. - The naval battle could have fallen flat if not for the 2nd week in a row of outstanding Euron Greyjoy as performed by Pilou... whatever his last name is (the a and e are forged together to make sure I can never pronounce it). Don't sleep on Euron! In fact- shamelss self-promo- We have a horrific Euron Greyjoy theory on our last episode (https://the-princes-that-were-promised.pinecast.co/episode/a0f9ec33-a52d-43aa-a37a-2bda84b4e981) if you're so inclined.
I can agree that Lena was a bit flat but pandering to the Great Lords of Westeros is not Cersei Lannister's strength. I can let it pass.

I gave it a 7 too. But a 7 for me is pretty good.
I liked the Dragonstone chats too! I didn't think I would going in but it turned out completely different. And Varys/ Dany in particular I think Olena survived though because she was never queen. Her advise to her sun when the whole show started was to stay out of it, which would have earned her and her Tyrells a longer life for sure. And Margery wouldn't have lived such a short span, so you know... Be a dragon is not exactly how she lived. She probably was a Rose. With thornes.
I did wonder about both Petyr and Jon. I mean I really thought something else would happen in that scene. There seems to be a weird quality drop in material when it comes to LF. Dumb is the closest I've come too. A pity because Aidan is my fave. Always was  Jon threatening seemed bad too because he leaves right after. So LF knows for sure now he has no chance of an alliance with him, no way to bring him to his cause or gain Sansa with a good word from Jon. That just means Petyr will probably act now, whatever his plans is, when Jon's away.
And yep, I loved Jaime/Tarly. Not sure what Tarly will do but looks to be for the Lannisters since he's there. Someone said he was playing hard to get. Could be.
“Don’t fight in the North, or the South. Fight every battle everywhere. Always, in your mind.”
I was lying when wolves started running around Arya and Arya/Nym scene started to happen, I got so excited I had to sit up, that's good entertainment. I hated how it went from there though.
Also, I thought Euron was pretty scary when he was holding Yara and challenging Theon. This was a first, generally I find this Euron to be a joke.
I gave it a 5, and it was almost a 4 if not for the dead sand snakes mounted on the prow. IMO that was the only *great* moment of this episode. Extremely creepy visual, almost horror, just as we'd expect from Euron. And as a bonus, now there's only one sand snake left, and probably not for long. As for the rest though...
The ship battle was obviously the highlight of the episode, but it had the feel of an overdone action scene crossed with a heavy metal concert, with the crazy dropping bridge thing, the music, the flying fireballs (did Euron study with the COTF?), and the way everything happened too fast to really keep up with. Euron's actor was great, but otherwise I did not enjoy this scene.
As an aside, I don't understand everyone hating on Theon. As if he had ANY chance of saving his sister if he jumped down there to sacrifice himself. We expected him to, because just a season earlier we saw Jon make an obviously futile attempt to save a sibling - but Theon is not a Stark, and he makes better decisions.
Arya... Sigh. Hot Pie must have been incredibly disappointed that his old friend only had a minute and a half to spend with him while stuffing her face like she hadn't eaten in days despite a full bag of coin. She also didn't think to ask a single question about him or Gendry. What a terrible friend. No wonder Nymeria the cgi freak wanted nothing to do with her.
Cersei is poised to put up more of a fight than expected, which overall I approve of... but I can't see the real Randy Tarly betraying house Tyrell to have his men fight DRAGONS. He even pointed out how impossible this is, and while the giant crossbow is scary if you love dragons, it won't protect an army against three of them. Dany is going to burn them all, even if she loses a dragon in the process.
While the Others are marching on Eastwatch, Jon is gonna make a quick run to DS to see if they can set up some mines in the rival Queen's castle. Uh huh, sure....
LF thinks it's a good idea to interrupt Jon in his grief and tell him he wants Sansa. And to tell him how much he loved Cat. Does he think Jon has the power to force Sansa into a marriage alliance with the ... guardian of the Lord of the Vale? Why would Jon ever do this? If anything Sansa should marry Sweetrobin if they want the Vale army.
Even Dany and Varys was weak, IMO, bc it exposed Varys as a fraud. Dany points out that Varys supported her brother, who would have been a terrible king- SO much worse than Robert, and he had no real response to this. In addition, by supporting her marriage to Drogo, Varys also set the stage for a Dothraki invasion of Westeros - how is this better for the people than having Robert in charge??? It's the commoners who die when nobles play the game of thrones, yet Varys promoted war with the goal of regime change... Similarly, it would have been better of him to support Rhaegar and Tywin over Aerys... Sigh. You can't substitute Dany for fAegon and still use the "I serve the Realm" line (though even in the books there is no excuse for supporting Viserys).
I don't remember anything else at the moment. If tried a rewatch but fell asleep. 🤤
“In Qohor he is the Black Goat, in Yi Ti the Lion of Night, in Westeros the Stranger. All men must bow to him in the end, no matter if they worship the Seven or the Lord of Light, the Moon Mother or the Drowned God or the Great Shepherd. All mankind belongs to him... else somewhere in the world would be a folk who lived forever. Do you know of any folk who live forever?”

What worked was some if the dialogue and that's probably because of the actors.
The writers had some characteral continuity issues.I share the frustration with Theon's behavior.Dude was willing to face death by jumping off a wall to save Sansa. The way "they" chose to write him was being seen as a coward in the eyes of his sister.
Little finger has played a perfect hand and you have him do something stupid as telling;seriously telling Jon,not only did you love his stepmother but you got the hots for his sister.
Little finger may mis-calculate leading to his demise, but not something this stupid.
Just the little things they botched for me.

Agreed. I went with the 4.
I can't give them credit for killing the atrocious characters they went out of their way to force onto our screens. Euron was cool, but we should feel horror at his treatment of characters we actually care about, rather than ones they are obviously killing because the reviews were so awful.
"I can see it. You have more of the north in you than your brothers."
I had the exact same reaction as Euron when Theon went overboard. Loved the battle. 7.
Shit, I can't remember his face when Theon jumps. I did rewatch the ep I just can't remember what his reaction was. I remember Asha's. I will rewatch. I think he must have been a bit disappointed.

You know, I think they go by the books on that one. I have a hard time believing that Jon is at Eastwatch for what will surely come, as per book Mel vision. He's probably warged into Ghost at the time of sitting it out in an ice cell. So I don't know what the writers could have given him to do in between. I did cheer that he manned Eastwatch by the Sea. I just fear for Tormund's health. He may catch a bad case of ice zombie...

Wanna know something? I thought how they liked to do two steps forward three back. Sansa was exactly the same. They gave her that big finish at the end of 5. The Dark Sansa Rises. And then they broke her in Season 6 with Jayne Poole's terrible faith plot. And here they go again. They made it look just like Theon is snapping out of his Reek persona at the end of last season, just to break him again now. Because you know he's not going to be able to forgive himself for not doing anything for Asha. Maybe Benioff and Weiss have a formula they apply. Who knows...
