I would have liked an entire episode dedicated to those on Dragonstone getting to know each other. A few flagons of wine and Dany, Jon, Davos, Jorah, Gendry, Tyrion, Theon could've had a long chat about how they got where they were. Jon needs to know about Gendrys time with Arya, the brotherhood and what Mel did. They all need to know about the shadowbabies. Davos should tell Dany about what he's seen of ppl burning. Jon needs to tell them about his time in the NW, Craster and the Others. Jorah can spill the beans about Sam. Lots of Intel they all need to share. Would've been a great episode.
The blade was Valyrian steel, spell-forged and dark as smoke. Nothing held an edge like Valyrian steel.

I wonder how these character meetings will go in the books! It actually made me excited just to think on how Jon and Tyrion for example will interact. Or Davos. We will be getting the true unvarnished reaction with no filter for some of these characters about one another soon enough! I mean because there will be no filter because of the POV structure. We will be in their heads. Pretty cool.

Oh yeah! Maybe overlapping POVs like we had with Sam and Jon when they parted at the Wall.

D&D forgot about him, his watch thus importance has ended.
Maybe--but I'm thinking his "love is the death of duty" quote is likely to make an appearance--perhaps in the final episode.
Bran already quoted Baelish's chaotic ladder.
And the show had Aemon say that twice--once in season one, while trying to persuade a sworn brother (Jon) to keep his oaths. And once during the battle for the Wall to Sam--about Sam's shirking his "duty" because he loves Gilly and came down to check on her.
It's a big scene in the novels. It's repeated twice about the vows of sworn brothers in the face of love in the show.
Think there's a chance that line might show up again.

I don't think they have even shown the Mountain this season have they?
I can't blame you for thinking that, but he did show up at least once - he menacingly stepped up to Euron when Euron got too close to the queen. I think first ep
If he gets taken out this season then his total kill count as an unstoppable zombie will be a grand total of two. TWO !!!! One pissed up commoner and the Faith Militant dude who tried to attack him with a stick. What. A. Badass.
EDIT Forgot about Septa Unella (well, I hope for her sake she's dead), an unarmed prisoner. This guy is so badass....

For the most part, this episode was enjoyable for me. But I had to do some major suspension of disbelief, including Bronn and Jaime managing to sink into the abyss, into what was apparently a James Bond like oxygen bubble and drift to safety, far enough from the battlefield that the mounted Dothraki didn't find them and round them up with the rest of the survivors, and then I guess they just walked back to Kings Landing with no harassment or pursuit by Dany's troops. That was the hardest part to ignore.
Oh, and the rather dumb plan to assemble a dream team to capture a wight beyond the wall instead of asking Dany just to fly over the army of the dead, toss a net into a pile of wights, and carry one back. As if a wight will prove anything to Cersei, who actually already has her own army of the dead (aka the Mountain that Rides) beside her.
I really enjoyed everything about Davos. Great portrayal of a great character. I enjoyed the Jon and Gendry interaction, even though it felt a bit forced. That exchange made me feel a bit uncomfortable and laugh out loud at the same time, much like Robert and Ned's confrontation. I predict some tension between Jon and Gendry over Arya.
The trolling of the audience, first with the Jon and Drogon scene, and later with the dumb as a box of rocks Gilly, is beyond crazy. Of course, I don't think it's hinting, because hints are supposed to be subtle, not as if someone just shoved a ginormous dildo down my throat. It's not subtle to hide such information as the crown princes annulment and remarriage in a list between counting steps, shits, and windows, FFS! The show very obviously is all aboard letting people think that RLJ is the truth, but the more they do these overt scenes, the less likely I find that it could be true. Unless, D&D cannot reveal the parentage information because of some clause with GRRM, and instead are just being complete asshat's and trolling GRRM as well as the audience.
On the other hand, the dragon's look damn amazing. Really quite stunning!!! It almost allows me to forgive the almost complete lack of direwolf action. Almost, but not really! Nymeria was great but where the hell is Ghost?
Jon repeating Ser Arthur Dayne's line was jarring, and made me wonder if Lyanna and SAD equals Jonno is the case. Of course, Mance also said that line, but I associated it more with Ser Arthur to Ned outside the ToJ. Unless Mance is SAD under a glamour!
I'm almost certain that Jaime and Cersei are Aerys' bastards and not Tyrion at all.
I can't tell if LF is succeeding in playing Arya and Sansa against each other, or they are together trying to trap him into revealing some treason, but either way, I just want to smack Sansa in the face!
I have tried really hard to avoid all spoilers for episode 6 and 7, but I have seen a few. Overall, I am looking forward to the next episodes. But I am also excited for the season to be finished, so I can stop thinking about all it's weirdness, time jumping and plot holes, and get back to the book text and wondering when the hell GRRM is going to get us the next book!
Their father understood as well. "You want no pup for yourself, Jon?" he asked softly.

Going with the flow of the show and because I believe like Davos believed when he brought Jon back from 'for the watch' .
About that annulment. Seems to me that the persona of Rhaegar is strongly reflected in Daenerys. They both left their partners who loved them behind in terrible situations for end games they thought themselfs destined for.
"Do you know what frightens me?, I said goodby to a man who loves me, a man I thought I cared for and I felt nothing"

Okay--this is an excellent catch.
Dany has always focused more on her destiny than on family or love.
The novels have focused more on the conflict--dragons plant no trees, and all of that.
Not to mention Dany's dream right before she wakes the dragons: she feels home and love and life--and then the dragon comes, burns it all, and she wakes to the taste of ashes.
Rhaegar and prophecy have not been mentioned in the show. I'm starting to think we may get a crash course in three heads of the dragon (and possibly the history of the sword of the morning) in season 8.
Because we've seen the difference between Dany's and Jon's reactions to being told they are part of miracles and prophecy--Jon's confused, focuses on his work, and dismisses the priestess who told him all of this because she's a murderer.
Dany? Liked the prophecies. Likes the idea of destiny. That does seem to be more like what we know of book Rhaegar. Not of Jon--in either books or show.
So, what will they do with this? No idea.
But this is an excellent catch, ser!
