I gave it a 7. Not the action episode that we were expecting, but again the story moved forward and the Wish they would have at least had one shot of the entire group so that we would know that the group consisted of more than 7 people, but that's probably my biggest criticism.

I'm going to have to watch this again before I can rate it. I loved seeing the dragons, but this whole episodes had some major problems and whoever claimed this was better than the Battle of the Bastards was completely crazy. The whole idea of those 7 dwarves uhhh men riding out walking out there alone with Dany on speed dial Gendry dial was utterly crazy. The whole travel time thing has really never bothered me, but now its become preposterous.
The Arya / Sansa conflict is annoying me and just don't find it compelling especially when Bran is right there and could settle any issues. Tyrion the brave Dudley Doright is also aggravating. The Brienne scene did not work. She was like I can't leave and then after hearing Jaime was there, she was like see ya. I'll drop you a line when I get there.
The only thing I liked was Dany's outfit. I totally want that coat and I want it to be real fur and if any animal rights activist throws paint on me, I'm going to use Beric's flaming sword on their ass.
We had sunshine in December and grew our roses in the snow.
I didn't like this. The leaps of logic was too much.
1.Nk walks up to fire two seasons now and they go out before him.Yet he can't freeze an almost frozen lake.so the wights could cross. So much for doing anything with ice.
2.The first Wight that tested the ground was wearing a pair of sneakers.Really, they don't even care.
3.Chains not made of ice.Where they get that crap. And why be afraid of falling into the ice when they apparently went in anyway to attach the chains to the dragon.
4.Gendry is the flash, the ravens are Sonic and Dany and Drogon used the Stargate to get beyond the wall.
5.Deus ex machina Dragon.
6.Deus ex machina half dead uncle with a live horse. 7.Plagerized Bear scene from the Revenant.
8.Crappy plan to convince Cersie?
9.Tyrion.You should know there's no convincing Cersie.
10.This entire thing would have been a done deal if Dany took the dragons with them North in the first place and snagged a Wight.Better plan huh!!
The best part about this episode was Arya almost making Sansa pee herself. There was a bit of intrigue there where you are not sure that Sansa has LF in her sights.Sadly, that wasn't enough to make this episode better.

HA! Though the sword might burn the coat--just look at what it did to the bear.
All art is at once surface and symbol. Those who go beneath the surface do so at their peril. Those who read the symbol do so at their peril. It is the spectator, and not life, that art really mirrors. Oscar Wilde.

Or just taking ravens with them and not making Gendry sprint it back.

I gave it a 2.5, which rounded down to a 2. If episode 7 is this bad, I may boycott season 8. This is not a continuation of the story we love, it is complete crap hiding behind fancy CGI and characters we're having a hard time letting go of after so many years. I'll be relieved when it's over in a few days.
“In Qohor he is the Black Goat, in Yi Ti the Lion of Night, in Westeros the Stranger. All men must bow to him in the end, no matter if they worship the Seven or the Lord of Light, the Moon Mother or the Drowned God or the Great Shepherd. All mankind belongs to him... else somewhere in the world would be a folk who lived forever. Do you know of any folk who live forever?”
The only reason it doesn't get a 1 is because the Sandsnakes didn't make an appearance. It might deserve a 1 though. If we can agree that the Sandsnakes and their execution of House Martell is the worst thing ever, and should be erased from memory, this episode is a solid 1 (if not a zero).
Just when I thought the Cave of Exposition would be the lowpoint of the season, they went full-retard. You never go full-retard.
"I can see it. You have more of the north in you than your brothers."

This never bothered me. They're all dead. What is their urgency? If Dany doesn't show up they all freeze to death or starve to death. Also, rivers don't tend to freeze, so the fact that it wasn't frozen solid suggests some kind of current underneath, or possible hot spring. The fact that it was snowing up there suggests that it wasn't crazy cold out though being on that tiny island would have created a wind chill.
3.Chains not made of ice.Where they get that crap. And why be afraid of falling into the ice when they apparently went in anyway to attach the chains to the dragon.
Couple different plausible answers here. 1) Hardhome looked to be a port city 2) We know from flashbacks that the North used to have summer seasons, and the area of this battle looks like it could also have been a port city at some point, so the chains could have already been there, or even at the bottom of the lake.
4.Gendry is the flash, the ravens are Sonic and Dany and Drogon used the Stargate to get beyond the wall.
The director admitted that they screwed up the timeline for this event, but we don't know how far Gendry had to run, or how long Jon and the others were waiting. I think you could reasonably believe that the entire scene took 4 days from the time Gendry left and Dany arrived. We also don't know how fast dragons can fly, and since it's kind of been established that dragons have a connection with Targaryians who are under stress that they could have been able to hone in on Jon's location.
They have actually tried to put that bear scene in for the last 3 seasons, but had to cut it each time because they couldn't afford it.
I really can't say anything about your other points that I didn't cover. However, I give the show a huge pass on the timeline discrepancies. We are basically down to 3 POV in the series. We have Jon, Dany, and Cersai. Pretty much all other POV's are with one of those characters, and sometimes Jon and Dany are together which reduces the POV's. It's definitely not a perfect season, but they went from adapting fully fleshed out novels to adapting an outline that GRRM gave them.

Sorry to rain on your haterade parade, but the dragons aren't really deus ex. We saw them taking flight. We knew they were coming. So, not an unexpected twist, which is what a 'deus ex' means. I sure love when "logic-loving" people use terms which meaning they don't seem to grasp. Lol at the Sonic, Flash and speed-related complaints. Same with the chains. Who cares. Do we need to be spoonfed everything, or else it's a "plot hole"? WTF with the sneakers thing, really. Oh well, I can tell I'm going to have a lot of fun in this board, if I don't die of rolling my eyes first.
