Me too! I see hints of many different combinations. I think they are all worthy of consideration.
Personally I like taking it chapter by chapter, but if folks prefer taking it in the established threads that's fine. If so I'll probably reread on my own and check in on those threads from time to time, as I really need to go over it in detail.

Oh, I am liking going through it this way, but it seems like the idea's end up a bit disorganized. Sometimes it's hard to know which chapter reread you posted something in versus just being able to go to RLJ or SLJ or NAJ, etc. Of course, my mind and fingers wander, and I can end up posting other information in those threads, too!
I thinks it's a fresh perspective, but then our idea's don't necessarily end up in one easy place to look at if you want a refresher.
Still, I am trying to pay attention to just parentage details, which helps isolate somethings that I might not normally have seen. And I plan to stick with this reread, and post as I am able.
Their father understood as well. "You want no pup for yourself, Jon?" he asked softly.

Just laying the chapters bare and go at them is great! Much and more have been pointed out that I totally missed! They do get disorganized as you say, and I'm in the race for the title of "Queen Derailer" for sure! However, I'm not sure placing it in category-threads would work any better for me. 1. The existing threads are already pretty long is some instances, and if they get too long they can get a bit daunting to go through. (In part I'm thinking of guests and new members here, but also rereading them later.) Also, it can get hard to keep track of what has been discussed and what hasn't. But I guess my biggest peeve is that those threads tend to span all the books at once, and that is not what I'm interested in now. 2. Some of the problems I find above can be solved by starting new threads for this reread; but again the problem with spanning all books can come up, and/or if they are taken in a more chronological order they can get hard to follow as people are on different chapters. 3. First rereading with all potential in mind, then chop them up for the characters, and THEN posting and discussing... Here it's easier to do the first two and drop the last one, potentially make one huge post rivaling the Wall with all findings pros and cons later.
But if this is the way most folks want to go, that is fine as I said, but I'll probably hang back and see how they develop over some time. Maybe I'll join in, maybe not. Another way could be to try harder to keep to the subject, even for us that is blessed/cursed with a free flowing mind. To make things better to go over later, maybe make a summary-thread at certain intervalls and/or of the longest threads with the best points? Or one for each combo that is updated? I could volunteer for that as I'm not too pressed for time, at least for now. As you say, it's a fresh perspective, and to me more interesting than a "normal" parentage thread!

Haha! I hear ya! Keeping to just parentage is hard! I've already several spin-offs in my head, and currently rereading 4 of 5 books in parallell. My brain is sprained... I will stick to this reread too, as my current answer for Jon's mother is "Some woman, most of them are". Posting might depend on what format it ends up in.

Actually, I have noticed stuff that I had not thought about before, just by isolating the reading and my thoughts, and I have enjoyed that. It's nice to still see something completely different after several times through the series. I am sure that is because the focus is specific to parentage. I am not sure the information appears new, but my interpretation of it might be different than before, and that will probably always be the case of you are willing to be open minded. The overall lack of open-mindedness on the W is one of the reasons that I don't spend much time over there, and rarely post when I do. It feels like when you post, you need to prepare to be slapped in the face. It never feels like that here! Or at tHoBaW, which is also very open to new ideas and different interpretations.

I can give you a run for your money on this! Don't think the race is won!

Well, I think people can post where they want, and I might post certain things in both places, depending on how it strikes me. I have wanted to add a few great comments that I have seen or be part of discussion wise that propably could/should be linked or tagged in specific threads, but I think we are capable of linking those things. I have just been to lazy so far, but I can be better at that. That would help stimulate those threads without taking away from any of these. I agree that sometimes rereading a 15-20 page thread can be daunting. I see no reason to stop doing it this way. I think people can reread how they like, and post in which ever place they think it's most appropriate.
One of the things that does slide in the course of free-flow discussion is organization. I know that I very much am guilty of that. I don't mind it, as a free-flowing discussion is enjoyable and spontaneous, and can shake some coconut's loose from the tree. As I said up thread, the one thing those kind of discussion lose it the ability to focus on one specific thing. But that can happen in any thread! I certainly can't help but notice something in the second chapter that applies to the fourth novel, and make note of it. Otherwise, what is the point of the text and connections?
Doing a reread like this gives people the chance to join at any time. Or not look at thread for weeks and then come back into it. I see no reason to stop at this point. And the pace is what we make of it. On days or weeks when I can't post, I will either skip ahead to the current chapter, or play catch up. We all have lives and sometimes that allows more time and sometimes that allows less time to post.

The focus does make a (huge) difference! I needed a couple of chapters before getting the hang of it (Feasting with Dragons at the same time didn't help either...), but now it flows pretty well! You veterans have an advantage over a newbee like me, and it's very much appreciated! And the openmindedness! As I've said before, that was the reason I chose this forum! tHoBaW = the House of Black and White? If so, I'll check it out! Probably been there a few times already, I'm as disorganized with sites as I am in threads...

Ok, now I see! Thanks for the clarification! Misunderstood as I took it as a full migration to theory-threads or something was suggested, and that's what I didn't feel like myself. And I did get a fullblown picture in my head of everyone going to combo-threads with me continuing posting individual chapter threads all by my lonesome self, which was kinda funny! I have a vivid imagination...

Agreed! We've all read the books before! Didn't mean to sound like I wanted a connection-free zone; just that the chapter-threads flows a bit different than the usual theory-threads, and I like it!

I'm a stickler for reading (or watching) things as they're released to retain the same intrigue as those experiencing it as it was released unto the world.
