Except GRRM promised it would come out, several times, in fact. Long before the show caught up with him. He has teased several publication dates for Winds. It seemed that he was going to purposefully outlast the show after he and D&D seemed to butt heads and part ways around season 5 to 6.

I didn't start reading the books until season 1 was complete (it compelled me to buy the series) and there were only four books published at that time. Dance came out later that year, so my wait was minimal. This wait has tested my patience, but I know it is so much worse for some fans who have been waiting 20 years for a conclusion. I guess the wait has given me time to go over and over the text, and I do see more or something different with each reread, so that really is a benefit to waiting, I guess!

Before my time! Naturally I didn't have any thoughts on the release of Winds before I had read through the books. After I did, my gut feeling was that we wouldn't get it until the show was finished. Mind you, this is generally not anything I think much on.

Alas, there might be some bad news about this collab, at least if one rumor is to be believed...

Looking past that I haven't heard the collab having been done yet, I have heard rumors that Carmine is planning on putting it behind the Patreon Wall... If so, I can't post it here (obviously), nor will I get to see it... I really hope this won't be the case!

If he's aiming for more patreons, I think he might fail if he holds this collab hostage, so to speak. I won't sign up for a single payment to get access to this! Ends up being more of a turn-off than anything else.

The rumor I saw was speculating that he did it to keep Preston to himself or something, as he's had more or less exclusive access to Preston after he blew up the YT community with his theories. Not that this is any better than drumming up patreons.

Let me again say that this is only a rumor, as far as I know! So this might not be the case, and it will be posted in the open if/when it happens. I'm not trying to throw shade on the man here.

They gave a sad update on this collab on their last livestream, after being asked. And they doubt that they will ever get as far as having a discussion with Preston... though they are still open for one, if I understood them right.

It turns out that Preston in notoriously hard to get hold of; Carmine has pulled out from being a go-between due to this, and Preston has not answered the Order's mails. From what I hear Preston has been very busy for the last months, with moving back to the States and lots of traveling, so perhaps he'll get back to them some time.

Seems like we just have to wait and see, while NOT holding our breaths...
