Agreed. And they may well be the descendants of whoever built the base of the Hightower in the first place.
Again GEotD or their descedants IMO of course.
This was actually a video about something else and the pregnancy thing was only briefly mentioned. There are some problems with the dragon X gene theory (requiring assumptions about which Houses have it besides the Targs that I find questionable), but this was just the idea that eggs may "awaken" (become primed for hatching) in the presence of pregnant Targaryen women. Dany is a great example: she had the same genetics all her life, but it seems her dragon dreams start at about the same time she conceives.
I must have missed them, back to youtube!
I always figured the dragon dreams were being sent to her, although by who (Quaithe, Marwyn, Bloodraven) its hard too tell.
I have even speculated that the occasional monstrous or stillborn Targ baby is the price they pay for hatching dragons. Only death can pay for life. If Rhaego had lived, would Dany still have hatched the eggs?
Maegor loses a bunch of children, and shortly after this, many dragons hatch. Then again, so did Aerys... though strangely we don't hear about him trying to hatch eggs, do we? Maybe it would have worked had he tried it?
Maelys the Monstrous also might help support that claim. Remember only death can pay for life. Also Marwyn's bit about Valyrian sorcery being based in blood and fire. Also the ideas that Valyrian steel swords were created by killing slaves... you are probably on the right track.
Also, there is the idea of the sleeping dragon Smaug from the Hobbit. We know that GRRM is tying elements of Tolkien into his own story, so the idea of a dragon in a lair, sleeping, is somewhat possible to me. We get the idea that dragons need freedom and food to grow, but eventually, I don't know that they need to eat. Perhaps they can self sustain at some point, and can just curl up and sleep for years and years. I think I could do that sometimes!
"The smoke and ash clouded his eyes, and in the sky he saw a great winged snake whose roar was a river of flame. He bared his teeth, but then the snake was gone," (ACOK, 718)
I don't know about the Tyrell's in general, but Willas's mother Alerie is a Hightower and has silver hair, so it's not beyond reason to suspect that there could be a drop or two of dragon blood in her children! I find Garlan to be the most interesting of Alerie's children (sorry Loras and Margaery) but we do hear a lot about Willis in the story. How he was a damn fine rider and young warrior, and how his crippling leg injury changed everything. So, good with animals and a damn fine rider could equal dragon tamer/rider! A dragon in the Reach is intriguing and Red Lake to Highgarden isn't terribly far, it doesn't look much different than King's Landing to Harrenhal or Storm's End. I like tinfoil and cracked pot's as well, so I think this idea has some potential, it just depends on how far GRRM is able to take his story!
I don't remember Willias being a great warrior just that Mace placed him in the lists way to young. Then again Garlan and Loras are both badasses so it stands to reason.
It must have been a theory that I was thinking of, but I can't find it now. I will have to keep looking. Something about how secrets of the CotF helped the Valyrian's learn how to control dragons. It does seem like several places in Westeros that have interesting black stone predate Valyria, which does hint at either the Great Empire of the Dawn or a link to Asshai.
If you find it post it please it sounds like something I want to read.
It would be hugely shocking if Wyman Manderly turned out to be secretly trying to pull the Stark's down. I find it interesting that he has two quite eligible granddaughters, with no marriages in their future (except to Rhaegar Frey, after the war is nearly done. Why not try to marry one to Robb? Perhaps Wyman did and Ned declined, which caused hard feelings? Probably not, but I find Wynafryd and Wylla pretty interesting!
Since I have started to doubt Wyman, I see little hints all over. But that is quite possibly me just seeing what I want to see at this point. I have become addled by the text!!!
I think Cat might have blocked that kind of marriage. She had Southron Ambitions.
Sometimes no matter how much you have, or how many lessons you should have learned, some natures just don't change. And how the Manderly's "overreached" is a bit vague, although they are said to have been driven from the Reach by the Gardner kings. Hard to say what happened.
And why be second best when you can be on the top? Be Warden of the North, Lord Paramount of the North, perhaps even claim the ancient seat of Winter? I don't know but I think ambition is sometimes very hard to tamp down! Of course, I am prepared to be wrong, about much of my tinfoilish thoughts, actually!
It's not a matter of taking the throne its the matter of holding it. The Manderlys could weasel their way to Winterfell but the Northern's would never kneel to them. At least in my opinion.
Like Baelish you can rule from behind the scenes instead of being the King.
I have all sorts of tinfoil I like to spin! I am like Rumplestiltskin!!!
