Hello everyone, I have talked about writing a Blackfyre thread after the Empire of Dawn post so here it is. In this thread I will talk about :
- Daena the Defiant and the Dragon gene
- Daemon Blackfyre and his paternity
- Rohanne of Tyrosh
- Daemon Jr and Daeron the Drunk
- Kiera of Tyrosh
- Aenys the Usurper
- Kingswood Brotherhood
∆
Daena the Defiant
Third child and first daughter of Aegon III and Daenora Velaryon, Daena is Daeron I with tits, she is an expert rider, loves archery, wanted to complete in tourneys, and claimed she was born to ride a dragon. When the last dragon died Daena was eight, a perfectly reasonable age for a Targaryen child to bond with a dragon although we don't have any information if all children of Aegon III and Viserys II had eggs, weather they hatched or not is another mystery. If there is a dragon x gene in our story, and it is always possible, then Daena definitely had that gene and passed it down to her descendants.
Daemon Blackfyre
Daemon is the only son of Daena the Defiant, and grows up as Waters at Red Keep until he is twelve and Aegon claims he is the father of Daemon. But Daena never named a father, that's why she was called Defiant, and as wife and heir of Baelor, birth of Daemon was a serious blow to her chance of being Queen considering she didn't have any supporters due to being locked inside the Maidenvault. And Aegon IV, I think he only claims the boy as his because his relationship with Daeron is sour and he hates his half Dornish grandchildren. So it is possible Daemon's father is not Aegon IV, and it's not important who Daemon's father was. Aegon IV claimed the boy, and legitimise him on his death bed, Daemon and Aegor was searching why Daeron II couldn't be rightful King, no one questioned if Daemon was son of Aegon or not. Power resides where men think it resides.
Rohanne of Tyrosh
Perhaps one of the most interesting decisions of Aegon IV is the marriage of Daemon and Rohanne. We know Daemon and Daenerys was supposed to love each other but for some reason Aegon uses his bastard son to have ties with a Free City. And before Rohanne Targaryens married two Essosi women named Tyana and Larra. These marriages did more bad than good. Tyana was a witch and poisoned babies of Maegor + killed Viserys. Then Larra happened with her ambitious family causing incidents in a post civil war Westeros plus she ended up abandoning her children. But then Rohanne happens, she gives Daemon more than seven kids, Rohanne's city also supports the Black Dragon until Maelys. Third times the charm? What made Rohanne different than other Essosi brides?
Daemon Jr and Daeron the Drunk
One of the highlights of Dunk & Egg stories are these cousins who both have dragon dreams. But their reaction to dreams are different. Daemon Jr risks disguising his appearance and organise a rebellion without Aegor because of his dragon hatching dream, while Daeron drowns himself in alcohol and has pix from whores because of his true dreams. The future they see must be vastly different for them to react in different ways, even when Daemon says he saw the deaths of his brothers he doesn't become depressive like Daeron
Kiera of Tyrosh
Kiera was the bride of Valarr Targaryen but when he died, Kiera married Daeron the Drunken. In her first marriage she lost both of her sons, a Speton claims Bloodraven is the culprit, and during her second marriage she had a simple daughter, I think Vaella might marry a Stockworth Lord, but we don't know why she was married to crown princes in the first place. I always thought Baelor the Breakspear could be the only Targaryen to fix relationships with Blackdragon and their supporters and marrying his son to a Tyroshi woman is a great idea, no wonder Bloodraven was said to kill her sons, and we don't know if Vaella was simple or not that's the excuse they have when they pass her for Egg in Great Council.
Aenys the Usurper
The title seems weird I know, but Aenys I Blackfyre was fifth son of Daemon who had the bright idea of attending Great Council for his claim to Iron Throne knowing Aegor crowned Daemon III, son of Haegon. Aenys literally usurped his own nephew and Bloodraven killed him dishonorably causing him to be exiled to the Wall. I bet Aegor was partying in Essos to get rid of Usurper and Bloodraven. Aegor seem to care about laws of inheritance.
Kingswood Brotherhood
When Barristan kills Maelys the Monstrous and ending Blackfyre male line, I bet Westeros thought they rid of them for good, until Kingswood Brotherhood happened. They were lead by Smiling Knight, Gregor of the Jaime's youth. Now that's where Calla Blackfyre's name becomes relevant. Calla is the only Asoiaf figure to share a name with a Disney Princess. A Disney TV show called Adventures of Gummi Bears has a character named Princess Calla. She is an expert archers, wants to compete in tourneys, has blonde hair and dark eyes, she is also daughter of King Gregor the Black Knight. And Kingswood Brotherhood has Wenda the White Fawn, whom I suspect to be Lady of the Leaves, and her name reminds me Wendwater where Daemon III was defeated. Is it possible after having to leave Tyrosh due to Maelys, last Blackfyres sought refuge in Westeros? And gained enough support from small folk to fight against Targaryen supporters?
