I've been slowly reading through Tootles essay on this topic. His ideas are various, ranging from brilliant, utter make-believe, but overall he is great at thinking stuff up, which is the type of thing that helps spark ideas in myself. And certainly some of it at least hits close to the mark. Like me, though, he takes an exhaustive approach, so I need to set aside time to read his stuff. In this particular case though, any connection to my ideas is purely coincidental, as I've barely started reading his essay just after writing my own. He has done a pretty good job of convincing me of the possibilities for the Tow KG secret identities, at least for Whent and Hightower, though not Dayne.
Sounds interesting and I might need to dive deeper into his thoughts and ideas. I just don't spend much time on Reddit and so far have resisted opening an account.
I don't want to sound like a broken record or anything, but an opal like this one, milky, but highly reflective, even luminescent with red's, violets, blues, and greens, might fit the bill.
Yes, Dawn could have an opal in the hilt. Certainly possible, and that would be a clear link to either the Stark's and Dayne's being related in some way, or that the Dayne's stole Dawn from the Stark's long, long ago.
As to other multi-colored stones, we could have tourmaline as an option, or even Quartz, which comes in a rainbow variety. Quartz is seen as quite a powerful crystal. Clear stones, depending on how they are cut, can show a rainbow of colors, depending on the light, and that is what the idea in the jewel in the sword's hilt of the constellation seems to mean to me, but certainly stars can come in several hues, depending on the type of sun they are, or what other suns are around them. Mother of pearl can be multicolored, as can topaz (the moonlight and mystic varieties). Moonstone is also interesting, depending on how it's cut. Several options for multi-colored stones and we don't even know if such a stone would be multicolored.
