Don't forget to look at Arya as Lyanna through Alice's looking glass. Lyanna's actions would be the reverse of Arya.
If there's an inversion, I'd say Sansa's a good candidate. Her wolf (the wolf maid) dies first Then the adventure.
If you recall what Tywin's response was to when Tyrion was first taken, he sent Ser Gregor to raid the riverlands. They were raiding in disguise, well, not really in disguise. They just didn't wear their sigils nor carried an identifying banner. No doubt so that Tywin could deny responsibility. The "Alice" twist here would be that Tywin (again) has sent men to raid the riverlands only during Lyanna's time they were disguised as Rhaegar and his men under his banner. That's why people reported seeing Rhaegar kidnapping Lyanna, but maybe Lyanna came upon these men and discovered that they were not Rhaegar and his men? They would have to take her into custody so that she wouldn't tell anyone.
Very possible. Though, if that's the case--where was Rhaegar?
I didn't forget about that line. It can have a double meaning, in my opinion. 1) it can mean that she knew she was dying and wanted to be buried in the crypts, and 2) Ned had to have planned out his "official story" to explain Jon and Lyanna and it's just one of the things he invented and repeatedly said whenever anyone asked him about Lyanna.
Maybe. But, given what he does with Lady, I'm more inclined to believe Lyanna died far from home.
And you've now got at least one poster on Westeros insisting Mance is the father on other threads. I'm still not sure I can buy it, but, as you say, some of the symbolism works well.
