So this stems from a Preston Jacobs video , where he seems to link the following line...
We have found silver cups and iron pots, sacks of wool and bolts of silk, rusted helms and shining swords . . . aye, and rubies."
That interested Ser Hyle. "Rhaegar's rubies?"
"It may be. Who can say? The battle was long leagues from here, but the river is tireless and patient. Six have been found. We are all waiting for the seventh."
...to the possibility that they represent individuals, friends of Rhaegar, thought to be dead but have been 'found' i.e. washed up on the Quiet Isle.
this got my brain firing (poorly...): there are theories of Lem Lemoncloak being Richard Lonmouth, Rhaegar's squire. There are also theories of the Elder Brother being a Darry supposedly killed at the trident (Jonothor maybe?). So perhaps the 6 rubies are friends of Rhaegar's, with the 7th being Jon Connington.
Any thoughts on this? Could there be 7 friends of Rhaegar out there in hiding? Who might they all be?
A long time ago at the W, I speculated that the 7 rubies are actually men who would form a Kingsguard for a new Targaryen heir (insert obligatory RLJ reference here), so yeah, I'm digging your idea! Given the proximity of the QI to the major stages of the Rebellion, and the Darry/EB thing, I wouldn't rule out the idea of it being a long-term sleeper cell HQ. I bet they have scores of swords/axes/warhammers stockpiled under a tarp in one of those huts!
I would also suspect that even on the Quiet Isle, the brothers would be more likely to know about a dragon (or two) stirring in the east that's about to make a big homecoming entrance than about some hidden secret prince freezing his scales off at the Wall and not giving one iota of a damn about reconquering the Seven Kingdoms, but what do I know.
and I get what you say about PJ I've only recently discovered his videos though, and they're really interesting. It's refreshing to listen rather than read at work, so I've been overdosing...
I never gave the seventh ruby much more importance than being the full number of the Faith. Seven is an important number; the number. What I do find interesting is that the seventh and final face or aspect is the Stranger. They are still waiting on the Stranger.
Haven't watched the video yet.
ooooOOOOOOOoooooooo.....
Profound.
So what do you think that means for the other 6 aspects? Do you interpret that as six actual people showed up on the QI that represent mother, maiden, warrior, etc?
I like the idea that Lyanna was at the QI, but I like the idea that RHAEGAR ended up there even more. I still want to know when and where he was cremated "in the tradition of fallen Targaryens".

Yeah, they're really interesting in that he does raise a few interesting points that spark conversation. They tend to lead down wildly differing paths though.
