Linda Antonssen is all lathered up about it. She polices the PC police, dontchaknow? If it was a screen version of Harry Potter, I could see people criticizing the casting choice, but not for a play. Whole different medium. Whole different adaptation. Besides, there aren't many references to Hermoine's skin color in the books and what few I've gleaned from my Google machine are ambiguous.
This is similar to the mini uproar created when a black girl was cast as Rue in the Hunger Games movie. Which is hilarious because Rue was black in the books.
Anyway, Linda is spending a lot of Twitter characters on this latest affront to her fantasy sensibilities and hasn't even read the books. Too legit to quit.
As soon as the cameras are off I am going to fuck that little dog.

I assume she is one of "those" people that call themselves "social justice warriors" ? *sigh*

Other side of the spectrum, actually: *white racist bigot*
Funny how spectrums often turn into circles when you go far enough in a particular direction.
You got one heck of a point there...
I remember watching a doco on TV about WWII and musing that it was nearly impossible to tell the difference between a fascist and a communist. In terms of their politics I mean, in appearance it is somewhat simpler, the fascists are always better dressed
