TBH, though, I'm not sure about Marvel-ous...one because it's not finished (just call me GRRM), and two because I got the feeling Papa Crow and others weren't particularly interested in the topic as anything more than more coincidence.
I do think that a Heresy spinoff of Lady Dyanna 's Arsenal of Echoes thread would generate some good discussion, however...regardless of what you believe theory/outcome-wise, the parallels are cleary there and perhaps folks could brainstorm even more. Maybe even get them in sequential order, something I once dreamed of attempting.
As for Black Crow, I've already presented the above idea and he wasn't interested, so I agree that we just need to do it here. Black Crow already provided his wish list and his request for authors is still open. Everyone is more than welcome to do essays for either project or both.
Just to clarify, Black Crow's list of essays is this one?
I've just received another message from Black Crow. He would like new authors on the previous seven core Heresys, but OK to use old essays for reference or for filling in gaps, plus 2-3 new ones. Please reply back if you would be interested in writing one of the following essays:
Hey there Melisandra! Thanks for thinking of me and sorry for taking so long to respond. I've been immersed in my podcasting efforts lately and haven't spent as much time on the various forums.
I'd definitely be interested - I've written about a few of those topics, or have notes for them... might I ask, what's the greater context of these essays? They're for the Heresy 200th edition, I get that.. but is there any sort of overarching ideas? I guess they are all supposed to be heretical? The oct tenets of my theory are absolutely heretical - that the forging of Lightbringer caused the Long Night, that Azor Ahai was the villain and not the hero of the story. I can write a version of those ideas that isn't dependent on tons of symbolism and 'mythical astronomy' or whatever (i.e. something people can understand without ever having read my stuff). I would also be happy to just focus on the Hammer of the Waters & related issues, something like that. That in turn affects the timeline quite a bit, because it places the Hammer (and therefore probably the pact) at the time of the Long Night, not thousands of years before.
I could also lay out the basics for my theory (which I haven't written out yet) that the Others come from the weirwood trees. Certainly not an original idea, but I have my own way of proving things which might be somewhat fresh.
I could also do a short - to medium length exploration of all the anachronistic things in Dawn Age Westeros which point to an advanced people who were not First Men - Battle Isle, Moat Cailin, Pyke and the Seastone Chair, Storm's End, the First Keep of Winterfell, and the Wall, plus certain folktales which corroborate some of the hard evidence. I already have those notes gathered together. That's fairly heretical - the men who came before the First Men and all that.
Ok, cool, I don't know what possessed me to think I would have the discipline to write a whole essay anyway.

What are you talking about! You are very insightful and BC would be honored for you to write something! SlyWren claimed the underworld weeks ago, so you just can't have that subject! Surely one of the others interests you? Otherwise, I'd be very happy if you'd participate in the Inversion project.
Thank you...I'm just so....lazy..lol! And I never finished my Storm re-read. Let me check again, what do you think the time frame is? Maybe I could try a paragraph a night or something. I just feel like a blob when I finish waiting tables the next morning, lol

ETA: maybe magic. I already wrote a theory on the horns in the story so maybe I can try and brainstorm more magical influences, although I wouldn't mind a partner to help me out a little.
If I go that route there are so many things that come to mind- was there always magic, did the dragons bring magic or vice versa, I have some ideas but I'd need a partner to help me check over my work and make sure it's canon not head canon.
How much time you think I have? I have this weekend off, and then I'm officially a wage slave again.

Heresy is currently on 182 and he wants to begin the essays with 191 so that the 10th essay will be 200, so I think you've got quite a bit of time. BeautifulBacon is doing Blood Magic for the Inversion project so maybe you could ask to use some of her tent versus tower of joy magic analysis that is already posted on Last Hearth for extra ideas?
There should be lots of information about the House of Black and White, which I am convinced is actually dedicated to the white ice magic and black fire magic. Both require blood sacrifice in working it and in most cases leads to death for the ones sacrificed. I actually posed a question today wondering what the workers of magic hoped to do? Are they in it for the power? Can they really extend life or resurrect life? Lots of good meaty stuff to get into.
Omg my brain is going to explode! Lol! I didn't even consider black and white magic or know what black fire was vs white fire vs the blackfyre rebellion lol
