As entertaining as all the jokes are, I really can't help myself but get a bit technical on y'all! So, hymens don't completely seal off the vagina, they all have some perforations (or else the menstrual blood can't leave - and as a girl who got her period before losing her virginity, trust me, the blood flows out fine!). Now, horse-riding (among other things, but gymnastics wasn't really a high-born lady's pass-time) stretches those perforations in the hymen over time, which makes the hymen essentially "open" much more naturally than jamming a c*ck in there. You need to be a regular rider for it to have any permanent affect on your hymen, but if you are a regular rider you likely won't experience the blood a non-rider experiences after having sex the first time. It will still be uncomfortable and you'd need a moment to get used to it, but the sharp pain that accompanies the hymen being *broken* won't be present.
And Gwindor - I know you're joking, and I get your point, but again I can't help myself but get technical! LOL! I'm not offended by your comment in anyway, please don't think I'm picking on you (I'm just here responding on the second page, and your comment is all I can look back on!). Generally, the main reason high-born ladies rode was because it's the fastest mode of transportation available. I doubt even Margaery actually took the time to think "Well, if I ride a lot of horses then no one will ever know I wasn't a virgin." Now, I have no doubt it occurred to her, as she got older and heard things like "Well, she did ride a lot, that can affect the hymen" from the older ladies around her discussing other women, that she could use it to her advantage. But I highly doubt a 6 y.o Marg who wanted to ride a pony was thinking about her hymen! If you like horses, you like horses - if you don't, like Sansa, you suck it up and ride them when necessary! But Marg clearly likes riding, much like Lyanna did - they likely would have been far too young to worry about their hymens when they discovered how much they loved being on the back of a horse and flying through the fields. Cersei would be the opposite, in my head anyway - she doesn't seem like a person who likes riding, and even she, knowing the advantage it could have in hiding her state of virginity, couldn't be bothered to actually become a regular rider *just* to mask her (possible) lack of virginity at her wedding night [though Robert was likely too fricking drunk to notice one way or another]. So it really comes down to whether they enjoyed horse-riding or not, if they did they rode horses regardless of their hymen, if they didn't they avoided horses unless they had to ride regardless of their hymen.
Now after that technical novel - I don't think Marg is a virgin. I think Renly understood the importance of heirs, not only to ensure he had heirs but also to bind the Tyrells even more tightly to him and his side during the war. If Marg had died before there were any children then he's at risk of losing the Tyrells, if Marg died after a child or two then the Tyrells are still tightly bound to him through his children. Now, that being said, I'm a straight female so I don't know if Renly would have been able to "perform" or not (and really, at the end of the day, every gay man is just as different as anyone else when it comes to arousal - some might be able to get the job done, others may not. Without knowing more about Renly, I'd have to guess he at least gave it a shot for dynastic purposes, even if he had to think of Loras the whole time!).
Geez, this is what happens when I'm too busy to check the forums out! LOL! Sorry!
Yes. to be controversial. She and her family know the power and wealth that flows from her virtue. In the books she is a smart player of the GoT, so yes.
I don't watch the show, what little I did see didn't impress or hold water etc.

I'll say yes, sort of. If the Faith of the Seven is anything like the Catholic church, then its constituents will be well-versed in the, uh, technicalities of virginity.
"No true knight would condone such wanton butchery." "True knights see worse every time they ride to war, wench," said Jaime. "And do worse, yes." Brienne turned the rudder toward the shore. "I'll leave no innocents to be food for crows." "A heartless wench. Crows need to eat as well. Stay to the river and leave the dead alone, woman."
