I don't think you have to worry about a 1:1 inversion. There are several people that echo each other.
Yes, you are right, that was not my intention at all. I just think that if we map people in the same situation to different people, we are missing part of the story. I totally agree with both of you that these echos and inversions are not 1:1, but having Arya, Nymeria, Sansa, and Lady mirroring Lyanna in one incident is IMHO just too much. But I will keep an open mind, or at least try
So--in that case, the "wrong wolf" makes sense for more than one Stark. Maybe.
Although I agree with your points and find them very interesting, I think it is important to look at intentions behind the actions so the picture becomes clearer:
- Aerys did hot have the wrong wolf, unless he was after justice and we know that is not true. NEd, Lyanna, or Brandon make no difference as being the KotLT to Aerys, as he is after eliminating the threat. Why would he care who exactly was the Knight?
- Cersei also did not have the wrong wolf, she was after revenge, any wolf would do
- Cat got the wrong Lion, but only because she was after justice (and also because it was no Lion's fault, wrong animal all together)
Does "steel underneath" innately mean "not a victim?" She can be tough and victimized, no?
Of course you are right. A good example in our own story is Arya, she is one of the most victimized characters in the story no matter how tough she is.
But my point wasn't about her state, rather Ned's belief. He doesn't think of her as a victim. Is it completely irrational that I agree with everything you say and still think Lady is more like Jon and not Lyanna? Jon was taken to WF as well, and no matter who objected, WF he stayed.
These series are a collection of sad and horrible stories and for some reason Ned gets me every time. It is surprisingly upsetting for me to think on anything that relates to Ned.
