In the scene where Cat receives Lysa's letter, we're treated to a change from the book I'd like to talk about. In it we get a triangle blocking that when filmed allows us to see Catelyn/Luwin as the physical representations of Ned's internal conflict and the choice he has to make. While I applaud the director in his blocking and choice to have each over his shoulder--I do think it could have been done a bit more subtlely. It feels too much like the actors had to get in their "places" for it, instead of setting up the camera so it feels more natural and more like a trick of the angle we're seeing the scene at. That's my one drawback to this scene is that the movement in it feels too much like they're standing on a sound stage.
As for the differences from the book, to begin with: Catelyn's positions in this scene in the book are voiced by Ned, all of Maester Luwin's by Catelyn, and Maester Luwin urges caution. While this is obviously changed for the chance to have each on one of Ned's shoulders, it really changes how Catelyn's concerns for her sister was used to manipulate her, thus making LF later on seem ineffective.
