Ahh and now the birth of Dinkledge's Tyrion begins. What's noticeable here is that the Tyrion/Jon Snow scene really is much more pushy and aggressive on both sides in the book. There's also the whole "see dragons in the flames" speech that Tyrion gives and challenges Jon to say that he doesn't see. Instead here in the show, Tyrion and Jon are rather cordial to each other and continue to be so with no puch or any real sense of tension at all in the scene. It really makes me think that the books did this scene better. While this might be a bit more conventional, especially for exposition, it doesn't have that same spark of life to it without the bickering and tension between the two. Also is it just me or am I really noticing a lack of Ghost in this episode. I missed his growls.
there was a little bickering right... calling each other bastard and dwarf
Yeah, but it's very minor in comparison. In the book Jon actually reacts rather angrily and Ghost knocks Tyrion over and Jon acts a little haughty over whether or not he'll call Ghost off for Tyrion's sake.
The book really makes Jon appear much more of a dick. Here we get a well-tempered Jon Snow, despite a tiny bit of aggression in their exchange.
Ghost is definitely conspicuously absent. He isn't even shown to leave Winterfell with Jon. Honestly, I think that's why the interaction seems so tame in comparison. There's a lot of conversation that's cut from the scene as well, as has been pointed out.
Why must I always be the isle of crazy alone in an ocean of sensibility? The should to everybody else’s shouldn’t? The I-will to their better-nots?
