Before we lose the actor entirely, I can now understand why the TV show did what they did in Season 5 better. They really try and build up Uncle Benjen's importance to Jon more here than the book does in the scene where they're looking out over the top of the Wall together. Not that this isn't there in the books, but it's mostly lost in everything else that's going on. It almost makes me wish that it had been Benjen that Jeor had given the raven's message earlier in the episode to with Benjen arriving after Tyrion had broken up the bullying in the armory. It would have been nice to get an additional Stark family moment between Jon and Uncle Benjen as the two actors really have good familial chemistry.
Well, giving Benjen the message would have made more sense, but by that time in the books, he had already left for beyond the wall. The show portrays all of the interactions between Jon and Benjen as them seeming closer than they do in the books. Maybe they just really want us to remember him.
Why must I always be the isle of crazy alone in an ocean of sensibility? The should to everybody else’s shouldn’t? The I-will to their better-nots?
