The insertion of Ned at the Tourney and interacting with Sansa disrupts her character arc for the season a bit. I don't object as Ned needs some father-daughter bonding time with Sansa before he departs Planetos, but think about the fact that in the last few episodes Sansa was proclaiming that she'll never forgive or talk to her father again, and she goes right back to brooding when this scene is over.
Largely Sansa's story arc has been about her wanting to abandon her Northerness and this has been touched upon symbolically through many different visual cues up until this point. However this scene jumps in and Sansa seems to have amnesia of that desire as she implores her father to do something to protect Ser Loras. Granted this reaction is a genuine one given what she saw the Mountain do in the last episode, so I won't say it's wrong, but it does seem to interrupt Sansa's character arc a bit.
Yes. But if I remember correctly the storyline here is the same as in the books. Septa Mordane was to hung over to attend the second day of the tournament. Plus, I would imagine that it would be somewhat unnerving to watch someone did ten feet in front of you.
Why must I always be the isle of crazy alone in an ocean of sensibility? The should to everybody else’s shouldn’t? The I-will to their better-nots?

In the books it's less abrupt I think.
"I can see it. You have more of the north in you than your brothers."
