The show undercuts itself by having Varys proclaim to be honest with Ned and then immediately thereafter see Varys talking with Magister Illyrio. Couldn't they have had Varys' scene last episode--it feels like this scene was moved an episode later.
And yet Varys argues that Ned's different than Jon Arryn when Illyrio talks of having Ned killed.
Speaking of Varys how does he know about Cat seizing Tyrion? In the next scene we see that Yoren has ridden as hard as he could to tell Ned. I have heard it theorized that Yoren is a agent of Varys. Unless someone sent Varys a raven or something.
Darkstar will be the next Vulture King.
Craster has 19 daughters and there are 19 castles on the Wall, coincidence I think not!

ooh good catch. Don't think there is a logical explanation. Yoren being an agent of Varys introduces many other complications.
They couldn't have done it last episode. Ned hadn't talked Robert out of jousting until the early part of this episode. Although Varys doesn't state that as his motivation in show. Just that Ned is an honorable man.
I do wonder what exactly Varys means when he says that this hand is not the other.
I didn't notice that Varys knew about Cat taking Tyrion. He just says that the fools tried to kill his son and botched it and that there will soon be war.
Why must I always be the isle of crazy alone in an ocean of sensibility? The should to everybody else’s shouldn’t? The I-will to their better-nots?

The only other thing I can think of the is innkeeper. Masha Heddle, was the name of the innkeeper. If anyone has read the D&E books wasn't another member of House Heddle a Blackfyre supporter? Considering Varys is also a Blackfyre supporter could he have secretly been raising former Blackfyre supporters to assist him?

Tom? Heddle was son in law to the Lord Butterwell? and was one of the main people behind the conspiracy. Actually, Bloodraven demolished Whitewalls at the end. I actually think that some of the stone from Whitewalls was used to build the Inn at the Crossroads.
