The bump worked, otherwise I would not have probably seen this theory. Thanks!
I will admit that I have not given House Darry much of a thought. But the Darry name does pop up quite a bit in our story, with important people having interesting parts to play in the story, and Castle Darry does have some intereseting things happening at it. After reading this, I would have to say you are probably correct in having either the family or the castle play some role in the end game.
As to Humphry Waters being a Darry bastard, there is not much to go on, but also nothing against it. It is certainly possible. And the connection to the Dragon Gate is interesting.
Yup not much to go but its interesting nevertheless. Considering how important the Captain of the Gold cloaks have been so far in the series (and in history) it doesn't seem likely that he won't end up being someone unimportant.
As to this former commander of the Dragon Gate letting a dragon (either Aegon or Dany) into the city to help with a conquest or retaking of the city that Aegon I founded 300 years ago is rather poetic. If I had to bet on one of them, I would say that Aegon will arrive first. He might not be able to take the city by battle, but someone leaving a door open for him would make things pretty easy. And if certainly the Darry family seems like one of the strong Targaryen supporting families still in the realm.
Nice theory!
Anyone know which gate Tywin entered the city through at the time of the Sack of Kings Landing? If it was through the Lion Gate, a dragon coming through the Dragon Gate would be even more poetic!
I certainly expect Aegon to be in KL before Dany.
I agree on the poetic nature of the gates but I don't know which gate Tywin came through but judging by the map of the city it would make sense if he did.
